Hilliker Leads Travel League At The Links At Ivy Ridge

AKRON — The Wednesday Travel League played The Links at Ivy Ridge for its 25th event of the season.

Josh Hilliker earned his league-best 11th tour victory of the season with the low round of 77. Joe Michalski was second with 81 and Tim Siragusa was third with 84. Hilliker and Michalski both had 40s to lead the front nine while Hilliker’s 37 led the back nine. Hilliker also became the 14th golfer in league history to reach 3,000 career points, passing Mike Willoughby for 14th place on the all-time points list.

Gary Haase and Jim Ellman Sr. won the B and C flights, respectively. The low round by a senior was shot by Dennis Gawronski Sr. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Bob Kujawa, who with his 36th career Commissioner’s Award moved past Lee Titus for most all-time.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Hilliker (Nos. 1, 13, 15), Michalski (No. 12) and Tom Sacilowski (No. 16); B Flight, Gawronski (No. 2), Jeff Marsowicz (No. 6), Frank Jagoda (No. 10) and Dave Franklin (No. 16); C Flight, Don Kujawa (No. 1), Pat Weaver (Nos. 2, 12), Phil Hopkins (Nos. 3, 14, 17, 18), Bob Kujawa (Nos. 4, 10) and Ellman (No. 11).

Closest to the pin were: Dave Criscione (No. 5), Jagoda (No. 8), Weaver (No. 12) and Pete Pinkoski (No. 15). Winners of the steeplechase were: Hilliker (A Flight), Jagoda (B) and Joe Bifaro (C).
