Fredonia Earns Rivalry Win Over Dunkirk

FREDONIA — Brayden Korzeniewski’s goal from Sam Pietro in the 65th minute proved to be the winner as Fredonia beat Dunkirk 2-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division I boys soccer at SUNY Fredonia.
Ryan Koopman opened the scoring in the second minute of the game for the Hillbillies (10-2-2, 4-2-2).
Alex Biscaro tied the game from Naisaih Rodriguez in the 60th minute for the Marauders (8-5-1, 4-3-1).
LUMIA SCORES TWICE
JAMESTOWN — Beckett Lumia scored twice as Jamestown beat Olean 4-1 in Division I play at Strider Field.
Lumia scored from Cameron Burgess in the 13th and 24th minutes as the Red & Green (5-6-1, 3-4-1) took a 2-0 lead.
After the Huskies (2-11-0, 1-7-0) tied the game on a shot by Brady Riehle with three minutes left in the first half, Evan Maloney scored from Tyjai Goodlow in the 39th minute as Jamestown regained its two-goal lead.
Burgess capped the scoring in the 66th minute.
Karson Milne made nine saves for the Red & Green while Braylon Torres made 10 saves for Olean.
WOLVERINES WIN LATE
NORTH COLLINS — Caleb Stoughton scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute as Westfield/Brocton trimmed North Collins 2-1 in Division III action.
Braylon Swanson opened the scoring from Logan Baum in the 12th minute and then assisted on Stoughton’s game winner for the Wolverines (11-2-0, 7-0-0), who wrapped up the outright league title.
Neven Sheehy scored from Lucio Zagari in the 24th minute for the Eagles (8-5-0, 4-2-0).
JOHNSON HAS HAT TRICK
ELLICOTTVILLE — Rian Johnson netted a hat trick and added an assist for Ellicottville/Franklinville in a 6-0 Division II shutout of Cassadaga Valley/Falconer.
Jaxson LaCroix, Tosh Klein and Jackson Tomsick each had a goal and an assist while Jacob Henning and Teddy Edwards each added an assist for the Eagles (7-4-3, 5-2-1).
The Golden Cougars fell to 3-10-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the league.
FIRST WIN FOR PANTHERS
SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley/Gowanda earned its first win of the season when Jarrett Meyers scored from Hayden Chase in the sixth minute of overtime to send the Panthers to a 3-2 win over Salamanca in Division II play.
Zack Honacki scored from Mark Smallback in the 33rd minute and Smallback scored from Meyers in the 49th minute for the Panthers (1-12-0, 1-7-0).
The Warriors (1-13-0, 1-7-0) led 2-0 in the first half before ultimately going to overtime.
