Falconer Sweeps Jamestown; Gators, Gowanda Share D2 Title

FALCONER — Hannah Melquist scored 15 kills, eight assists and five digs as Falconer swept Jamestown 25-10, 25-13, 25-16 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 volleyball Wednesday.

Reagan Trask dealt out 25 assists, three aces and nine digs for the Golden Falcons. Mylie Zaranek had 12 kills and eight digs; Emily Zaranek scored 10 kills, two aces, three blocks and five digs; Nylah Sharpe made 11 digs and two aces; and Kaylee Green delivered seven blocks.

Jamestown was led by Maylin Cuifolo with 11 assists, 10 digs and an ace; Remy Anderson had five kills and five digs; and Peyton Joly added two kills and a dig.

FREDONIA DOWNS SOUTHWESTERN

FREDONIA — Londyn Wilmot provided 22 kills, an ace, two blocks and 13 digs as Fredonia defeated Southwestern 25-8, 15-25, 25-21, 25-13 in Division 1.

Elly Saunders made 16 kills, four aces and 15 digs for Fredonia. Alyse Bugaj had 32 assists, and Sidalee Lewis added two aces and 10 digs.

Southwestern was led by Gianna Sirianni with four aces and six kills. Elise Kartesz had 10 assists, Reagen Stutzman made four blocks, and both Claire Kautzman and Brooke Pfeiffer had six digs.

BULLDOGS EDGE CASSADAGA VALLEY

BROCTON — Zoe Spiller provided five aces, five assists, 14 kills, nine digs and a block as Brocton defeated Cassadaga Valley 25-13, 20-25, 25-19, 25-10 in nonleague play.

Evie Morrison added eight aces, 16 kills and eight digs for the Bulldogs (11-5). Grace Lundin scored three aces, two assists, three kills and six digs; and Sha’Nah Adams made an ace, 25 assists and four digs.

Cassadaga Valley (8-10) was led by Madi Debo with 24 digs, five kills and one block; Melanie Myles provided 15 assists and four kills; and Mia Fanara dealt three aces and six digs.

TIMBERWOLVES

KNOCK OFF GOWANDA

GOWANDA — Cattaraugus-Little Valley defeated Gowanda 19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 in Division 2.

The Timberwolves (14-3, 9-3) finished second in the division while Allegany-Limestone and Gowanda shared the title.

The Panthers (12-4, 10-2) were led by Bella Maines with 36 assists, 10 digs and three aces; Corrina John had 12 kills, nine blocks and a dig; Envy Cross made 12 kills and four blocks; and Addison Kota provided seven kills, nine digs and three aces.

CARDINALS FINISH STRONG

WEST VALLEY — Addyson Shawley scored 15 kills, an assist, four aces and two digs as Randolph swept West Valley/Franklinville 25-13, 25-11, 25-16 in Division 2.

Piper Chase provided 17 assists, four digs and two aces for the Cardinals (6-11, 5-7), and Ryanne Bushey made four kills, eight digs and two aces.

West Valley/Franklinville finished 0-13 overall and 0-12 in league.

EAGLES DOWN SALAMANCA

ELLICOTTVILLE — Ande Northrup made 21 assists, four kills, five digs and three aces as Ellicottville defeated Salamanca 25-12, 18-25, 25-21, 25-12 in Division 2.

Riley Whitmer added 11 kills, 14 digs and three aces for the Eagles (14-6, 6-6), and Karley Northrup had five kills, seven digs and four aces.

Salamanca finished the regular season 5-13 overall and 2-10 in league.
