C/S/P Cruises Past Springville On Homecoming

PANAMA — To suggest that Clymer/Sherman/Panama got off to a fast start in Saturday’s Class C South football game would be a bit of an understatement.

“The defense came out and intercepted a pass on the third play of the game and we scored on our first play,” Wolfpack head coach Dave Bodamer said. “We scored four touchdowns in our first 16 plays due to turnovers and field position.”

Those four TDs were courtesy of 20- and 5-yard runs by Sawyer Whitney, and passes by Carson White of 5 and 30 yards to Gavin Burchanowski and Kameron Einink, respectively.

Armed with a 27-0 lead, Clymer/Sherman/Panama breezed to a 50-7 homecoming victory over Springville.

The win raised the Wolfpack’s record to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the division, while the Griffins dropped to 0-6 and 0-6.

Blake Beckerink and Bryan Gomez both added rushing TDs, White (8 of 10, 194 yards) connected on an 88-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Sexton, and Michael Horton booted a 21-yard field goal to close out the scoring for Clymer/Sherman/Panama.

Whitney finished with 63 yards rushing and Beckerink added 54. Einink caught three passes for 63 yards.

For Springville, James Rola rushed for 90 yards and completed 11 of 25 passes for 94 yards. The Griffins’ lone TD came on Rola’s 4-yard pass to Aiden Dearmeyer.

“We are 4-2 with a very big matchup Friday at Southwestern,” Bodamer said. “That is a team contending for the state title, too, and is rolling everyone. We will see what we can do this week to prepare for them. We have to win one of our last two now to get into the playoffs. The last two wins have been must-wins for us and the boys have come through.”
