Myla Brainard and Rachael Swanson of Falconer, and Eden Ludwig of Chautauqua Lake and Nella Darrell-Sterbak of Fredonia all prevailed in the opening rounds Wednesday at the Lakewood YMCA

In the first round, Swanson defeated Betsy Leyva of Salamanca 6-0, 6-0 and then knocked off Charis LaBarr of Fredonia 6-4, 6-1 in the second round.

Also in Round Two, Brainard defeated Jazmyn Tonklin of Jamestown 6-0, 6-1; Darrell-Sterbak knocked off Jillian Miller of Chautauqua Lake 6-4, 7-5; and Ludwig upended Dani Mincarelli of Frewsburg/Southwestern 6-1, 6-2.

On Friday, that foursome will play off to see who secures the three CCAA berths at the Section VI Championships. The matchups will feature Brainard against Swanson and Ludwig against Darrell-Sterbak.
