Wolfpack Post XC Victories

FREDONIA — Fredonia/Westfield’s Izzie Czekanski paced the field in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls cross country action at Fredonia on Tuesday, leading the field of Clymer/Sherman/Panama, Frewsburg and West Valley runners with a time of 20:48 on the 3.1-mile course.

The Wolfpack won the event with a low score of 36 as four runners placed in the top 10, Grace Cooke at 2nd (21:33), Savannah Whitney in 5th (22:29), Brooke Warner in 8th (23:50) and Bria Palmatier in 9th (24:36).

Fredonia/Westfield finished second as a team with 41 points with Meredith Lendt joining Czekanski in the top 10 at 3rd (21:44) and Nora Robinson placing 10th (24:54). Frewsburg took third with a team score of 44 and had three runners in the top 10 as Jadyn Trock took 4th (21:56), Grace Gilevski 6th (23:11) and Raegan Cheney 7th (23:35).

BOYS

Clymer/Sherman/Panama had three of the top five place finishers to post a 20-35 victory against Fredonia/Westfield in CCAA action.

West Valley’s Noah Klahn was the top finisher at 17:30, while in team scoring the Wolfpack took the top three places.

The Wolfpack was led by Chris Phelps in 1st (17:50), Finn Fadale 2nd (17:52), Flynn Fadale 3rd (18:04), Ely Smith in 6th at 18:34 and then Zach Odell in 8th (19:18).

Fredonia/Westfield was paced by Trent Krenzer in 4th (18:06), Soloman McKnatt in 5th (18:27), Nathan Keefe in 7th (19:01), Jimmy Fagan in 9th (19:19) and Alex Cramer in 10th (19:20).

RED & GREEN CRUISE

GOWANDA — The Jamestown girls had four top 10 finishes to defeat both Olean and Gowanda with a low score of 33 in CCAA action, while the top overall runner was Salamanca’s Kaylin Lemon at 21:00.

London Hamilton paced the Red & Green in 4th place (22:45), Julia Stormont earned 5th (22:46), Kater Hockenberry 6th (22:48) and Gabriella Knight in 7th (22:55) to take home the victory.

Olean finished second with 40 points and had a pair of top 10 finishers with May Eaton in first among complete teams (21:13) and Kinley Belleisle 3rd (22:25).

Gowanda ended in third with 50 points, having a trio in the top 10 led by runner-up Hayleigh Miller (22:22), 8th Alivia Richter (23:19) and 9th Raelyn Diebel (23:36).

BOYS

Jamestown’s Clevon Wofford paced the field and the Red & Green dominated Olean with a low score of 15.

The Red & Green earned the top five team spots with Wofford at 16:40, Wyatt Olmstead in 17:13, Finn Caswell at 17:29, Thomas Kathman at 18:01 and Caleb Johnson running 18:22.

Olean scored 43 as three kids entered the top 10 with Cruz Clark in 6th (18:33), Declan Boutillette in 7th (18:49), Colin Simons in 9th (20:02) and Seamus Leslie in 10th (20:12).

The top Salamanca runner was Aiden George at 17:29, while the fastest Gowanda runner was Brendin Diebel at 19:07. Both teams did not complete squads for a score.

TROJANS DOMINATE

Emma Lewis finished in 18:51, nearly four minutes ahead of the competition as she led Southwestern to a CCAA victory posting a team score of 33 against Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville and Allegany-Limestone.

Lewis was joined in the completed top 10 by Lillian Weikel at 5th (23:25), Kenzi Swafford 7th (23:37) and Elorna Barnett in 9th (24:24).

The Black Knights had four top 10 finishes for 40 points, led by Leah Mays in 2nd (22:32), Hanan Mohamad Narvaez in 3rd (22:49), Emma Golembieski in 8th (24:02) and Leona Crane in 10th (24:36).

The Gators took third with 51 points and were led by Elexa Duggan in 4th (23:05) and Abby Higgins in 6th (23:29).

Randolph did not have a complete score, but overall finishes included Gracyn Rowland in 9th (24:10) and Kaidence Durow in 10th (24:18).

Allegany-Limestone’s Nolan Wilczewski paced the field for the boys at 18:32, but four top finishes won the meet for Southwestern with a low score of 20 and Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville in the CCAA.

Taking the top four team scores were the Trojans with Kellan Brown in 1st (20:20, Jan Steinmann 2nd (20:31), Ethan Lohnes in 3rd (21:07), Kaleb James in 4th (21:12) and Dorian Weaver in 10th (22:51).

Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville was paced by Samuel Bowers in 5th (21:19), Frankie Laspesa in 6th (21:28), Grayson White in 7th (21:32), Daniel Thies in 8th (22:22) and Marcus Crane in 9th (22:26).

Randolph’s Rhys Kelly finished second overall with a time of 20:16, but the Cardinals did not have enough runners for a team score, nor did the Gators.

RED DRAGONS ROLL

BEMUS POINT — Maple Grove’s Evalyn Fessel paced the field and led the Red Dragons to a low score of 15 past Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, Franklinville/Ellicottville and Cattaraugus-Little Valley at Bemus Point Golf Course in CCAA action.

Fessel ran a time of 22:57, while the next four finishers were all her teammates in order of Lily Eliss (23:35), Mae Benedetto (23:47), Lily Bohall (23:56) and Rylie Allen (24:10).

The Golden Cougars took second with 60 points and had three top 10 finishers with Korynn Pacitti (25:06), Kayla Pacitti (25:14) and Morgan Robbins (25:27).

Franklinville/Ellicottville had 70 points and the Timberwolves finished with 93.

BOYS

Ethan Verbosky led the Maple Grove boys to a low score of 19, torching the course with a time of 17:08.

Verbosky was joined in the top 10 by scoring Maple Grove teammates Ty Kraft (18:10), Jack Sherry (18:15), Owen Erlandson (18:38) and Josh Ashbaugh (18:59).

Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Grant Cornell took second overall at 17:48, while teammate Ben Wedvik (19:32) contributed to the second-place finish.

Alexander Pietras finished 7th (19:15) for Cattaraugus-Little Valley and Anson Miller took 8th (19:22) for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.
