LAKEWOOD — A pair of cousins turned in the ultimate golf accomplishment on the same hole at Maplehurst Country Club last month.

Using a 9-iron on No. 16, Rita Newell of Jamestown recorded her fourth career hole-in-one, playing from the 115-yard Red tees on Aug. 6. Her ace was witnessed by John Mangine.

Ten minutes later, Dan Bracey, also of Jamestown, who was playing right behind Newell and Mangine, aced the same hole from the 155-yard Blue tees. Bracey used a 9-iron to record his first career hole-in-one, which was witnessed by Dave Currie.

“We had so much fun celebrating this special and exciting day for both of us,” Newell said.
