Southwestern Rallies Past Panama For Four-Set Victory
PANAMA — The Southwestern volleyball team dropped its first set to Panama on Thursday, then proceeded to rattle off three wins in a row to earn the victory 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.
The Trojans (2-0) were led by Elise Kartesz with 18 assists, six digs and three aces; Maddie Burnett had 15 kills and five aces; Gianna Sirianni made six kills, five digs and two aces; Claire Kauffman made nine digs; and Caroline Churchill added seven digs.
Mckenna Kolstee led Panama (0-1) with six kills and five blocks; Kiera Loberg made nine kills, 23 assists and four blocks; Annie Becker had 11 kills and six digs; and Alexis Becker added 17 digs.
EAGLES DOWN SILVER CREEK
ELLICOTTVILLE — Ellicottville defeated Silver Creek in four sets of nonleague action 25-8, 25-17, 19-25, 25-13.
The Eagles (2-1, 1-0 CCAA 2) were led by Riley Whitmer with 18 kills and 15 digs; Karle Northrup had six kills and two aces; Izzy Coburn had five kills, nine digs and three aces; Faith Burlingame made 12 digs and two aces; and Ande Northrup contributed 25 assists, six digs and three aces.
Silver Creek falls to 1-2 overall on the season.
