Krenzer 10th At East Aurora Invitational

EAST AURORA — Trenton Krenzer of Fredonia turned in the best finish among area runners at the East Aurora Invitational on Saturday.

Krenzer toured the course in 16 minutes, 48.40 seconds to finish 10th in the Small School Boys Division to help the Hillbillies to third place with 94 points. The individual winner was Noah Klahn of West Valley, who ran a 15:49.77. The team champion was Iroquois with 82 points, one point better than Barker. Gowanda placed 12th with 282 points.

Other local boys who placed in the top 50 in the Small School Division were Fredonia’s Nathan Keefe (20th, 17:33.06), Solomon McKnatt (23rd, 17:41.15), Alexander Cramer (29th, 18:14.66) and Jack Fagan (36th, 18:29.92); Frewsburg’s Chaos Hedges (30th, 18:15.88); Salamanca’s Aiden George (40th, 19:36.84) and Preston Smith (49th, 19:01.93); and Gowanda’s Maddox Hudson (48th, 18:59.22) and Jaxon Hagan (50th, 19:02.11).

Jadyn Trocki of Frewsburg was the top local finisher in the Small School Girls Division, placing 29th with a time of 21:17.21. Teammate Raegan Cheney was 34th in 21:43.69, while Meredith Lendt of Fredonia was 42nd in 22:04.65 and Lailee Pierce of Salamanca was 48th in 22:28.84.

Elke Melnik of Springville posted the fastest time among the girls with an 18:32.45.

East Aurora placed first as a team with 78 points. Frewsburg (257) was 11th, Fredonia (268) was 12th, Gowanda (356) was 16th and Cattaraugus-Little Valley (425) was 18th.

The Silver Creek girls turned in the best performances among local teams in the Large School Division en route to a seventh-place finish.

Leah Mays led the way with a 13th-place time of 20:15. Teammates in the top 50 were Hanan Mohamad Narvaez (14th, 20:22.43), Leona Crane (28th, 21:25.38) and Emma Golembieski (29th, 21:26.83).

Melia Kupchanko of Williamsville North was the individual winner with a time of 17:22.23. Starpoint claimed the team crown with 90 points.

Meanwhile, in the Large School Boys Division, Carson Zuba of Lancaster placed first with a time of 15:06.71. East Aurora was the top team with 27 points. Silver Creek placed 17th in the 17-team field with 449 points.

WOLFPACK RUNS AT LETCHWORTH

LETCHWORTH — On Saturday, the Clymer/Sherman/Panama cross country teams attended the John Izzo Classic at Letchworth where both teams placed fourth in their respective races.

Against 25 teams, the boys were led by eighth-grader Christopher Phelps in 13th with a time of 16:52.3, followed by Finn Fadale (18th, 17:08.2), Flynn Fadale (23rd, 17:35.4), Ely Smith (54th, 18:31.1) and Zach Odell (66th, 18:48.3).

On the girls side, seventh-grader Savannah Whitney led the way in the 17-team race in sixth place with a time of 20:15.9, followed by Grace Cooke (10th, 20:53.1), Bria Palmatier (33rd, 22:41.2), Brooke Warner (47th, 23:08.3) and Caitlyn Kriner (58th, 23:40.6).
