The Jamestown Community College men’s soccer team moved to a perfect 3-0 in Region 3 play, with a 3-0 home win over North Country CC on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tight affair through the first 30 minutes, with both teams struggling to establish their offensive game. That was before the Jayhawks started to pepper the net, collecting 18 shots on goal.

Jamestown CC broke the 0-0 tie when Ethyn Gilbert settled a beautiful pass from Casimiro Espeso Gayte in front of the net. From there, the sophomore did the rest to drive home the first goal of the game for a 1-0 Jayhawks’ advantage.

Jamestown CC quickly doubled the lead off of a Shane Bennett throw-in, where Adam Doyle took the pass and didn’t mess around before scoring his first of the year to make it 2-0.

That score held deep into the second half. North Country CC had its best chance to cut into the deficit in the 77th minute, but the Jayhawks’ Christoforos Theokli was up to the task, making a saving stop to keep the clean sheet.

In the 87th minute, Braiden Govan scored his fifth of the young season to give Jamestown CC some insurance in the 3-0 win.

The Jayhawks are back home at 2 p.m. Wednesday when it welcomes Erie CC.

Starting at $3.50/week.
