Falconer Schools, Trinity/GCFCU Claim Battle

Falconer Central Schools (1,585 points) won the Large Division title while Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Credit Union (1,520.50 points) placed first in the Small Division in the 37th annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses. The two traveling trophy cups were given to both teams at the Richard O. Hartley Park in Lakewood.

The first-place results of the final day six individual events listed by the Large then Small Division team winners are:

2-Mile Run/Walk: Chautauqua County Government, Jamestown Bar Association; Hotshot Basketball Contest: Frewsburg Central School, G.A. Family Services/Family Health Medical Services; Wildcard Karaoke (with help from East Dunkirk Fire Department): Cummins, Jamestown Bar Association/City Court; Hydro Bike Race (sponsored by Bemus Bay Water Toys): Jamestown Macadam Inc., Trinity/GCFCU; Sur”Y”vor Challenge: Falconer, Trinity/GCFCU; Tom’s Pick-Ball Balance (bonus event presented by former Battle Director Tom Anderson): UPMC Chautauqua, Spectrum Eyecare and Charity Challenge (bonus event sponsored by United Way of Chautauqua County): Frewsburg Central School, Jamestown Bar Association/City Court and Trinity/GCFCU.

In the Large Division, Frewsburg Central School was given the YMCA Battle Team Spirit Award and Nick Spry of Falconer Central Schools was honored with the Battle Team Captain Award.

In the Small Division, newcomer Spectrum Eyecare received the YMCA Battle Spirit Award and Brittney Quattrone of Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union earned the Battle Team Captain Award.

Team captains are reminded to email last day first-place participant photos to Crystal Rodriguez at crodriguez@jamestownymca.org for plaque insertion.

The Battle was sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, United Way of Chautauqua County and Eventz by Scott.
