Pirates Battle Back After Losing 2nd Set To Beat Cougars

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Clymer volleyball team let the second set get away at Cassadaga Valley, but bounced back and never looked back in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 victory 25-19, 23-25, 25-12, 25-15.
The Pirates were first to string together points in the opening set and won 25-19, but the Cougars bounced back in the second and held on for a 25-23 win.
Clymer did not let dropping a set faze it, as the Pirates jumped out to early leads of 7-3, then 14-5 and even 19-7 before cruising to a 25-12 victory. Cassadaga Valley put up a better fight in the final set, but a 7-point run allowed Clymer to pull away and take its spot atop Division 4.
Lily Johnson paced the Pirates (4-4, 3-0) with 12 kills, two blocks, two aces and four digs, Mikaela Jackson added seven kills, two aces, two assists and two digs, Olivia Dellamora made four kills, two aces, two digs and an assist, Elli Bodamer had four kills and 15 digs and Addie Wiggers dealt 14 assists and two digs.
Cassadaga Valley (4-4, 2-1) was led by Lexi Pattyson with 13 kills and two aces, Payton Meder had four kills, a block, six digs and three service points, Kailee Lacki made three kills and six digs, Adrianna Myers made 11 digs and Melanie Myles made 18 assists and six aces.

MAPLE GROVE SWEEPS BROCTON
ELLERY — Three different girls had five kills apiece as Maple Grove swept Brocton 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 in Division 3 action.
Annie Steffen had five kills, three digs and two aces; Bry Cornell had five kills, three blocks, five digs and two aces; and Meg Ryan had five kills, two blocks, four digs and two aces for the Red Dragons (7-2, 2-1). Also, Bayley Godfrey had three assists and nine digs; Mady Haglund had 14 assists and five digs; Gemini Prittie had three aces; and Hailey Ullman had eight digs.
For the Bulldogs (5-1, 1-1) Lily Zappie had four digs and seven aces; Zoe Spiller had 10 kills, four assists, six digs and two aces; and Evie Morrison had seven kills, 10 assists, eight digs and an ace.
CHAUTAUQUA LAKE SWEEPS
PANAMA — Kinslee Motter had 10 kills, four assists, two blocks, nine digs and two aces as Chautauqua Lake trimmed Panama 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 in nonleague action.
Noli Paddock had nine kills and an ace; Karagan Fairbank had two kills, 26 assists, six digs and five aces; Sydney Williams had four kills, an assist, three blocks, two digs and an ace; and Alice Scarpine had an assist and 15 digs for the Eagles (5-1).
Kiera Loberg had nine assists, two kills and two aces; Mckenna Kolstee had six kills; and Alex Becker had 10 digs for the Panthers (4-5).
Chautauqua Lake won the jayvee match.
