Battle Of The Businesses Enters Final Day
Cummins (1,312.50) and Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union (1,215 points) lead the competition in the 37th annual YMCA Battle of the Businesses in the Large and Small Divisions after the Friday evening events.
Falconer Central Schools took the first place “Y” Warriors event win (3:26.72) over runnerup Cummins for the Large Division at the Lakewood YMCA. The Falconer foursome included Chris Fiasco, Emily Hair, Tracy Hendrickson and team captain Nick Spry.
Jamestown Macadam Inc. finished in third place.
In the Small Division, Sara Briggs, Stefanie Briggs, Zach Heberlein and Ashley Lundmark of Children’s Educational Services/Rehabilitation Specialists ran the course for the 100-point win with a time of 3:26.84.
Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union placed second.
In the Large Division pickleball tournament, The Resource Center’s Austin Mitchell and Michael Sandquist netted the 100 points for first place followed by Frewsburg and Cummins.
Trinity/GCFCU’s Art Faix and Dennis Lefler took the Small Division pickleball victory with G.A. Family Services/FHMS and CES/Rehab placing second and third, respectively.
Jenifer Capitano and Kelly Moon of The Resource Center tiled the highest points in the Large Division Scrabble tournament. SKF USA and Chautauqua County Government scored the next top places.
For the Small Division, G.A. Family Services/FHMS’ Jeremy Riedesel and Debra Scott finished first on the Scrabble board followed by Spectrum Eyecare and Trinity/GCFCU.
Today’s YMCA Battle of the Businesses’ last day events (six of them) will be held at the Hartley Park in Lakewood with the 2-mile run/walk at 9 a.m. followed by Tom’s Pick (bonus event) at 10:15 a.m. The wildcard karaoke will start at 10:30 a.m. with team scheduled times and the following 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. events of hotshot basketball competition, Sur”Y”vor challenge and hydro bike race sponsored by Bemus Bay Water Toys will take place.
The United Way Charity Challenge bonus point winners will also be announced.
Participants are reminded to wear their team T-shirts, sneakers and water shoes if necessary.
