Hilliker Shoots 74 On Travel League At Riverside GC
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. — The Wednesday Travel League played Riverside Golf Course for the first time since 2016.
Josh Hilliker shot 37-37 for the low round of 74 to capture his league-high seventh tour win of the season. Robert Calph finished second with 79 and Jeff Nelson was third with 80. Phil Hopkins (83) shot a personal best in league play.
Mike Willoughby was the B Flight winner. In the C Flight, Tom Sacilowski was the winner after the first tiebreaker hole over both his 12-year-old grandson Carter Crabtree and Mick Dunning Sr. The low round by a senior was shot by Jack Hood. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Bob Kujawa, who is now tied with Lee Titus for most career Commissioner’s Awards with 35.
Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Ed Tofil (No. 1), Hilliker (Nos. 3, 6 and 16) and Nelson (No. 4); B Flight — Pat Weaver (No. 2), Ron Szach (No. 7), Tom Destro (No. 14) and Ken Kaus (No. 16); C Flight — Bob Thompson (No. 3), Crabtree (Nos. 9 and 12), Dunning (Nos. 13 and 17) and Kujawa (No. 15).
Closest to the pin were: Pete Pinkoski (No. 3), Lenny Leszkowicz (No. 6), Mike Baron (No. 8), Phil Hopkins (No. 11) and Dunning (No. 13). Winners of the Steeplechase were: Dave Wallace (A Flight), Willoughby (B) and Sacilowski (C).

This week the league plays its fourth major of the season, the “Frank Borowski Invitational” at Pennhills Club in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The event is named in memory of league founder Frank Borowski. The first tee time is at 9:20 a.m. Several openings exist at this time. Golfers are asked to inquire.
