LAKEWOOD — Mason Winchester scattered eight hits while striking out six in a complete-game effort as Southwestern improved to 3-0 with a 2-1 win over Falconer in the District 38 Little League Area B 10-12 All-Star Tournament on Wednesday at LaGrega Field.

Southwestern scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning and threw a runner out at the plate in the top of the sixth inning to survive.

In Southwestern’s fifth inning, Cory Troutman singled with one out and Lucas Zambotti grounded into a fielder’s choice before Matthew Cama singled to put runners at first and second with two outs. Kolten Bouckhuyt then hit a two-run double to right field to make it 2-0.

In Falconer’s sixth inning, Owen Dickerson and Waylin Goodwin hit back-to-back singles before Aiden Rhinehart’s RBI infield single made it 2-1. After a strikeout, Lucas Arrance hit a groundball to second base, but Goodwin was thrown out at the plate attempting to tie the game. Winchester then struck out the final batter of the game to seal the win.

Carter Ray had the only other hit for Southwestern.

For Falconer (2-1), Arrance had two hits while Andrew Youngberg, Jonah Johnson and Noah Nelson each added a single.

Trenton Smith struck out six and walked two in a four-hitter on the mound for Falconer.

BEMUS POINT — Jackson Butzer went 4 for 4 and Curtis Spielman threw a complete-game seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Frewsburg beat Maple Grove 7-2 at the Town of Ellery Park.

Maple Grove took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before Frewsburg (1-2) answered with a run in the top of the second.

Frewsburg then scored the next six runs to take a 7-1 lead. Jackson Brady hit a two-run single and Camden Cruea followed with an RBI single in the third inning. In the fourth, Spielman hit an RBI single and Drew Maggio hit a two-run single.

Jackson Levandoski added an RBI while Butzer and Spielman each scored twice.

Garrett Darr and Noah Osgood combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound for Maple Grove (1-2). Brody Hricko, Paxton Liddell and Rowan Bland each doubled.

RANDOLPH — Donavan Peterson doubled and drove in three runs to lead Randolph to an 8-7 victory over Valley.

Austin Bushey doubled twice and scored a run; Remington Smith singled and drove in a pair of runs; and Madden Wojtowicz doubled and scored a run for Randolph (2-1), which scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning on Peterson’s sacrifice fly to score Caden Shusko.

Jay Martin, Brody Beichner, Lane Woleben, Cody George and Luke Smallback each singled for Valley (0-3). Rob Martin drove in a pair of runs.
