Southwestern Is No. 1, Falconer Is No. 2 In Area B Little League

FALCONER — Trenton Smith threw a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk as Falconer clinched the Area B No. 2 seed with a 4-0 victory over Randolph in the District 38 10-12 Little League All-Star Tournament on Monday.
Huxley Hale tripled to lead off the bottom of the first inning and scored on Andrew Youngberg’s one-out sacrifice fly to give Falconer (3-1) the only run it would end up needing.
In the fourth inning, Youngberg walked and Jonah Johnson reached on an error before a passed ball moved the runners to second and third. Noah Nelson then hit an RBI groundout and Johnson scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0.
Falconer’s final run came in the fifth inning. Owen Dickerson led off with a walk, went to second on a one-out passed ball and scored on Lucas Arrance’s RBI single.
Austin Bushey threw a four-hitter for Randolph (2-2), striking out nine and walking two.

BEMUS POINT — Southwestern wrapped up the No. 1 seed in Area B with a 20-4 victory over Maple Grove.
Logan Zambotti went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and three runs scored; Cory Troutman went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored; Dylan Brink doubled and scored three runs; Mason Winchester went 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored; Matthew Cama went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a runs scored; and Collin Strong doubled, drove in a run and scored a run for Southwestern (4-0).
Carter Ray, Cama and Brink combined on a nine-hitter with nine strikeouts on the mound.
For Maple Grove (1-3), Garrett Darr went 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored; Jack Briggs tripled and scored a run; and Colton Raynor doubled and scored a run.

FREWSBURG — Frewsburg went ahead 9-1 with a six-run third inning and then held off Valley for a 10-6 victory.
Brayden Beckstrom threw 4 1/ 3 one-hit innings with 11 strikeouts for the win. Drew Maggio got the final four outs with a pair of strikeouts to help Frewsburg hold on to even its record at 2-2.
Beckstrom led the Frewsburg offense with a pair of doubles and three runs scored; Maggio hit an RBI triple and scored twice; Noah Greenman had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; and Jayden Wiggins hit a two-run single.
In the third, Beckstrom doubled with one out and Curtis Spielman walked before a wild pitch allowed Beckstrom to score. Maggio then hit his RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch. After Jackson Brady walked and Wiggins was hit by a pitch, Greenman hit an RBI single, Wiggins scored on an error and Alex Rosenow hit an RBI groundout.
For Valley (0-4), Rob Martin doubled and drove in a pair of runs; Caden Lacki singled, drove in a run and scored a run; and Ethan Rojo Zavala singled, drove in a run and scored a run.
