Sailing Program Hosts Swim Across The Lake
The Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program had its annual Swim Across the Lake on July 10.
The swimmers jumped in the water at 7 a.m. The eight youngsters and three adults who participated were boated over to the opposite side of the lake across from the CLYC. Approximately a 1-mile swim, they each had a spotter on a kayak next to them. They could also choose to wear a life jacket or not. The first, second and third places received big jars of candy, everyone received a medal and they were greeted with Tim Hortons donuts, hot chocolate and Timbits after their swim.
Jack Webb finished first with a time of 35 minutes, 18 seconds. Arie Turner was second (36:08) and Charlie Webb finished third (36:10).
Following are the remaining swimmers and their times: Theodore Schaefer, 37:05; Nico Cesta, 46:23; Odin Luck, 1:05:12; Felicity Farris, 1:10:20; and Zelda Rosenberger, 2:09:34.
Following on his boat, along with many other boats and lifeguards, was Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputy Greg Paterniti.
