Southwestern, Falconer Atop All-Star Tournament Standings

FREWSBURG — Matthew Cama and Carter Ray combined on a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Southwestern shut out Frewsburg 11-0 in the District 38 Little League Area B 10-12 All-Star Tournament Monday.
Dylan Brink, Cama, Cory Troutman, Lucas Zambotti, Mason Winchester, Kolten Bouckhuyt and Elijah Evans each had a single for Southwestern (2-0). Bouckhuyt and Walker Eggleston each had two RBIs while Troutman and Zambotti each had one.
Cama allowed two hits and struck out four before Ray relieved with one-hit ball while striking out eight.
Brayden Beckstrom, Curtis Spielman, Jackson Butzer and Noah Greenman combined on a seven-hitter for Frewsburg (0-2). Just four of the 11 runs allowed were earned. The pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts.
Butzer had two hits, including a double, and Jackson Brady singled for Frewsburg.

GERRY — Falconer scored four runs in the top of the third inning and beat Valley 5-2.
Jayce Stewart tripled, drove in two runs and scored a run; Jonah Johnson had two hits, including a double, and an RBI; and Andrew Youngberg singled, drove in a run and scored a run for Falconer (2-0).
Johnson tossed a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts on the mound.
For Valley (0-2), Jay Martin singled twice, drove in a run and scored a run; Brody Beichner and Brayden Beichner each singled; and Lane Woleben tripled and scored a run.

Caden Lacki and Brody Beichner combined on a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.

RANDOLPH — Austin Bushey tossed 5 2/3 innings of four-hit ball while striking out nine as Randolph topped Maple Grove 8-2.
Jackson Yerpe and Bushey each had a pair of hits for Randolph (1-1), which benefited from nine walks and scored five unearned runs.
Paxton Liddell had two hits, including a double, for Maple Grove (1-1). Carmine Maine, Noah Osgood and Garrett Darr combined for nine strikeouts on the mound.

Last Wednesday, Falconer opened the tournament with a 1-0 shutout of Frewsburg.
Falconer’s Trenton Smith and Frewsburg’s Brayden Beckstrom were locked in a pitchers’ duel until the sixth inning when both hit their pitch limits.
Beckstrom walked the first two batters he faced in the sixth inning before being relieved. Waylin Goodwin then reached on a one-out infield single to load the bases before Aiden Rhinehart was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the winning run.
Smith allowed just two hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out 10 and walking four for Falconer. Jonah Johnson got the final out with a strikeout. Huxley Hale, Andrew Youngberg and Goodwin each had a hit in the win.
Jackson Butzer walked and Lincoln Moller doubled to open the game, but Smith got out of the jam with a strikeout and a double-play lineout. Frewsburg’s only other hit was a single by Drew Maggio.

Also last Wednesday, Maple Grove beat Valley 7-4.
Carmine Maine and Paxton Liddell each homered, Garrett Darr hit two triples and Noah Osgood had two doubles for Maple Grove.
Darr struck out seven in four innings before Maine struck out five in the final two innings on the mound.
Brayden Beichner and Lane Woleben had the only two hits for Valley. Brody Beichner struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings before Brayden Beichner got the final four outs, including a strikeout.

Last Thursday, Southwestern opened the tournament with a 7-4 win over Randolph.
Randolph scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but Southwestern answered with a five-run bottom of the second.
Carter Ray went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored while Matthew Cama also had two hits. Walker Eggleston scored twice and drove in a run.
Mason Winchester allowed four hits while striking out nine in 4 2/3 innings. Cama got the final four outs, including two strikeouts.
Austin Bushey had two hits, including a double, while Remington Smith homered and drove in two runs for Randolph.
