Addison Kota Is CCAA D3 Player Of The Year

With a batting average of .579, and five doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and 25 runs scored it would usually be a safe guess they were video game numbers. However, it just happens to be the stat line of Gowanda junior Addison Kota that earned her the title of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 Player of the Year.

The division was won by Forestville and leading the charge was senior Megan Gruber in the circle. She posted a 1.63 earned run average, struck out 147 batters and gave up just 27 earned runs over 115 2/3 innings pitched this season to be named the Pitcher of the Year. Brianne Hazelton was also recognized for leading the Hornets to the division title and was named Coach of the Year.

Gruber was joined on the First Team by catcher Jade Work, who drove in nine runs and scored 16 times. Gruber also hit .392 with 14 RBIs, six doubles, a triple and 21 runs scored and junior shortstop Carilene Sliwa hit .349 with 24 runs scored as the leadoff batter and smacked six doubles, a triple and a home run for a spot on the First Team.

Forestville freshman Emily Lillie was named to Second Team with Madison Christian, and Olivia Valentine and Elizabeth Case received honorable mention.

Kota was joined on the First Team by senior teammate Holland Browning, who batted .289 with two doubles, two triples, a home run, nine RBIs and 11 runs scored. Sophia Bobseine and Bella Maines were named to the Second Team for the Panthers and Helena Wallschlaeger and Grace Eddy were honorable mention.

Silver Creek had a trio of girls named to the First Team. Ryle Weiskerger batted .447 with six doubles, two triples, nine RBIs and 21 runs scored, Kyla Ziegler hit .368 with two doubles, a home run, eight RBIs and 16 runs scored and Kimmy Bauer finished with a .452 average and had two doubles, a home run, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Madison Blair, Makayla Kelly and Priya Sakpal were named to the Second Team for the Black Knights and Madisen Hein, Molly Becker and Hailie Rybij earned honorable mention.

Randolph was represented on the First Team by Sadie Steward, who hit .377 with five doubles, two triples, a home run, 11 RBIs and 26 runs scored and Aliza Hind, who batted .368 with three doubles, two triples, six RBIs and 26 runs scored on top of striking out 58 batters while in the circle.

The Cardinals added Isabella Syracuse, Grace Arnold-Hill and Mallory Smallback to the Second Team, while Ryanne Bushey and Quinn Pence were honorable mentions.

Brocton freshman Paige Miller was named to the First Team. She batted .439 with six doubles, two triples, three home runs, 11 RBIs and 14 runs scored. The Bulldogs added Joleena Doner to the Second Team and Zoe Spiller was an honorable mention.

Pine Valley senior pitcher Danica Farnham rounded out the First Team with 89 strikeouts from the circle over 78 innings and she hit two doubles and two home runs at the plate. The Panthers added Danielle West to the Second Team and Paige Hohl was an honorable mention.

The Team Sportsmanship Award went to Brocton, while individual awards went to Work of Forestville, Cassidy Westbrook of Silver Creek, Sofia Bieniek of Randolph, Browning of Gowanda and Spiller of Brocton.
