12U TRAVEL BASEBALL

The Diamond Dawgs went 4-1 at the Cayuga Heat Summer Kickoff Tournament, losing 5-4 in 10 innings Sunday in the semifinals.

The Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before the Diamond Dawgs’ Collin Bragg hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

After the Raiders took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, Bragg gave the Diamond Dawgs their first lead with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning.

The Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force three extra innings before scoring the winning run on an error.

Bragg went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, Liam Mulkins went 3 for 4 and Jackson Butzer was 2 for 3 for the Diamond Dawgs.

Greyson Whitfield allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out three. Bragg gave up a run and three hits with four strikeouts in three innings of relief. Mulkins struck out three and walked three while allowing an unearned run and a hit.

The Diamond Dawgs beat the Grand Island Vikings 5-2 in Sunday morning’s quarterfinals.

After Grand Island led 1-0 in the top of the first inning, the Diamond Dawgs answered with a three-run bottom of the first. Liam Mulkins hit a sacrifice fly, a run scored on an error and Collin Bragg scored on a wild pitch.

The Diamond Dawgs took a 4-2 lead in the third when Caden Lacki hit an RBI groundout and Huxley Hale scored their final run in the fourth on Lukas Youngberg’s RBI single.

Greyson Whitfield finished with two hits while Bragg and Mulkins combined for seven innings of five-hit ball, allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out 10 and walking one.

The Diamond Dawgs took a 9-0 lead and held on for a 10-8 win over the Chautauqua Hit Crew in Game 3 of pool play Saturday.

Liam Mulkins doubled three times, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice; Jackson Butzer went 2 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored; Caden Lacki went 2 for 3 with two runs scored; and Greyson Whitfield, Huxley Hale and Owen Carlberg all doubled for the Diamond Dawgs.

Collin Bragg earned the win, allowing no runs and a hit while striking out eight in four innings.

Curtis Spielman went 3 for 3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored as the Diamond Dawgs beat Blaze Grey 18-2 in Game 2 of pool play Saturday.

Greyson Whitfield had a pair of doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored; Caden Lacki was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored; Huxley Hale was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Lukas Youngberg was 2 for 2 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored; and Collin Bragg doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Diamond Dawgs.

Jaxson Swanson tossed four innings of four-hit ball, allowing two runs and two walks while striking out eight.

The Diamond Dawgs broke a 4-4 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat EMW Tribe 6-4 in Game 1 of pool play Friday.

Collin Bragg led off the sixth inning with a double and Caden Lacki singled before both runners scored on a passed ball and an error.

Greyson Whitfield went 3 for 3 with a double and a run scored; Jaxson Swanson was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored; Liam Mulkins singled twice and drove in a run; and Bragg doubled and scored a run for the Diamond Dawgs.

Whitfield tossed four innings of five-hit ball, allowing four runs (three earned) and two walks while striking out one. Mulkins threw the final three innings of shutout ball, allowing three hits while striking out six.

15U TRAVEL BASEBALL

After being the No. 1 seed entering Sunday’s single-elimination bracket, the Lakewood Gladiators were stymied by No. 4 seed Lou Gehrig Red in an 18-3 loss.

Wilson Genareo took the loss for Lakewood, surrendering eight runs (three earned) on five hits with one strikeout and three walks in one inning.

Gavin Darr, Drake Beckstrom, Julian Jackson and Jackson Grey each collected a hit. Ryan Engquist and Grey each drove in a run.

In Game 3 of pool play, the Lakewood Gladiators scored seven runs in the third inning to beat Academy Stars-DiMura 13-1 on Saturday.

Jackson Grey hit a two-run single, Julian Jackson was hit by a pitch to force in a run, three runs scored on errors and Drake Beckstrom drew a bases-loaded walk for the Gladiators.

Lakewood jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Broc Bryan hit an RBI single, Karson Milne hit a two-run single and another run scored on an error.

The Gladiators added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Jackson hit an RBI triple and Wilson Genareo hit a sacrifice fly.

Jackson opened the game on the mound and allowed one hit and a run over four innings, striking out five and walking seven.

Despite leading by as many as four runs, the Lakewood Gladiators fell to Lou Gehrig Red 5-4 on Friday in Game 2 of pool play.

Lakewood got on the board in the top of the first inning after Broc Bryan hit an RBI single, Gavin Darr hit an RBI groundout, a run scored on an error and Ryan Engquist hit an RBI single.

Engquist opened the game for Lakewood, allowing four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out one and walking none.

Wilson Genareo had two hits and five RBIs as the Lakewood Gladiators beat the Red Devils 15-1 in Game 1 of pool play.

Genareo hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the sixth inning for the Gladiators.

Lakewood scored six runs in the fourth inning. Riley Lacross hit an RBI double and Drake Beckstrom hit a two-run double before Genareo’s home run.

The Gladiators took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Broc Bryan’s RBI single and a 2-0 lead in the third inning on Bryan’s RBI double.

Beckstrom earned the win for Lakewood, allowing seven hits and a run over six innings with six strikeouts and a walk. Lacross pitched one inning of no-run ball in relief with three strikeouts and a walk while allowing one hit.

Bryan led Lakewood with three hits in four at-bats while Julian Jackson, Connor Campion and Lacross each collected multiple hits.
