CHAUTAUQUA — After 365 days of anticipation, the 2025 national championships are finally here for the Jamestown Community College golf team. The Jayhawks play host to 108 men’s and women’s golfers for the Division III national championships held at Chautauqua Golf Club starting today and running through Friday.

2025 marks the 26th time the Jayhawks have welcomed the National Junior College Athletic Association to Chautauqua County. With the event in their backyard, the Dirty Birds are hyped for junior college golf to revolve around their home course.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever played five straight days of really competitive golf, so I am looking forward to it,” said JCC sophomore Dan Towell.

“I want to meet some new people and have fun. I want to take this opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to come out here and play golf in a national tournament. It should be fun,” added freshman Cole Johnson.

Fellow freshman Zach Johnson feels the same: “I want a good five days in the sun. Making some new friends. It’ll be fun.””

With Chautauqua Golf Club being the Jayhawks’ home course, the golfers in green and gold have 105 fellow competitors looking to them for tips and tricks. Adding a different layer to their week of competition.

“I mean there is a little bit of expectation from others. I am not going to put pressure on myself. I feel if I do that, it won’t end well. I’m just going to get out there and see how it goes. Hopefully, some good scores, but we will see how it goes,” mentioned Zach Johnson.

“It’s just let’s play five days of golf. The pressure I have on myself is worth it. It should pay off, hopefully; this is our home course. If I put myself in a sticky position on the green, I am hoping I understand that course better than the rest,” added Towell.

The 89 male and 19 female golfers start their opening round on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., with the fourth and final round set for Friday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
