Trojans Soar Past Salamanca In Division 1

LAKEWOOD — Oscar Harris went 3 for 4 smashing a pair of doubles with 5 RBIs and scored three runs to lead Southwestern past Salamanca 13-2 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action on Monday.

Southwestern (4-5, 4-4) hit six doubles in the game with one each from Brody Ellis, George Marshall, Kyler Wojtowicz and Wilson Genareo. Marshall finished 3 for 4 with three runs and an RBI and Genareo hit 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

Judd Harris picked up the win on the mound giving up just two hits and one earned run over three innings with five strikeouts. Cooper Charles finished the final three innings with another earned run on three hits and five walks while punching out three.

Salamanca (9-5, 2-5) was led by Cory Holleran stroking a triple while going 2 for 2 with a run scored, Payton Bradley hit a double and an RBI and Kruz Coustensis hit 2 for 3 with a double and RBI.

RED & GREEN

WIN 3RD STRAIGHT

WEST SENECA — Blake Smith Jr. helped Jamestown win its third game in a row going 5 for 5 with a double, three runs scored and 3 RBIs in a 17-5 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 victory over West Seneca West.

Karson Milne picked up the win for the Red & Green going 5 2/3 innings giving up just four hits and three runs with three strikeouts. He also helped his own cause hitting 2 for 4 with a whopping 7 RBIs as he connected on a pair of bases clearing doubles.

Adam Kubera also doubled and scored four runs for Jamestown (4-10, 1-8), while Gavin Maggio hit a double.

Jude Khoury hit two doubles and an RBI for West Seneca West (3-12, 1-10).

WOLFPACK DOMINATES

PANAMA — Max White pitched a five inning shutout with 10 strikeouts and just two hits against as Clymer/Sherman/Panama cruised past Pine Valley 14-0 in Division 2.

Bryce Hinsdale hit 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles, 2 RBIs and three runs scored for the Wolfpack (7-2, 7-1). Andrew Spiesman went 2 for 3 adding another two doubles with two runs scored and an RBI, Tate Catanese hit 2 for 4 with a triple, 3 RBIs and three runs scored and Isaiah Burkholder was 1 for 1 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Camryn Slade hit a double for Pine Valley (0-10, 0-9) and Hayden Chase went 1 for 2.

BEARS ROLL

CASSADAGA VALLEY

FREWSBURG — Maddox Sheesley connected on five hits including two doubles and a triple as Frewsburg rolled Cassadaga Valley 20-1 in Division 2.

Mason Eckman added another three doubles out of his four hits for the Bears (10-2, 9-0), while Drake Beckstrom picked up the win with five strikeouts.

Grant Zahm hit an RBI double for Cassadaga Valley (1-8, 1-7).

WESTFIELD, MG SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER

WESTFIELD — Westfield took the first game of a Division 2 doubleheader against Maple Grove, holding off the Red Dragons 6-5 before falling later 5-2.

In the first game, Tristan Phillips led the Wolverines going 2 for 3 including a double with 3 RBIs, while Mason Baum added a double. Phillips also picked up the victory on the hill going five innings with just seven hits and five runs while striking out two and walking three.

Maple Grove was led by Cam Lombardo going 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Kyle Yohe, Ezekiel Padd and Drew Oste each had an RBI.

In the second game, Oste stroked a double and drove in a run for the Red Dragons (3-7, 3-6) in a 5-2 victory.

Yohe, Gavin Darr, Aiden Dahlberg and Kameron Brown each drove in a run. Dahlberg also picked up the win giving up just one hit and one earned run over five innings of work with nine strikeouts.

Joey Russo took the loss for the Wolverines (4-6, 4-5) as he surrendered seven hits and three earned runs with five strikeouts. Russo had the only hit for Westfield as he went 1 for 2.

BULLDOGS DOWN

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE

BROCTON — Nate Laurito hit 2 for 3 with an RBI and a double as Brocton downed Chautauqua Lake 16-4 in Division 2 action.

Ray Santiago added another 2 RBIs going 1 for 2, while Michael Garcia hit 1 for 4 for the Bulldogs (8-3, 6-1). Garcia also picked up the win in the five-inning contest going four frames with eight hits and four runs against.

Chautauqua Lake (5-7, 4-5) was led by Nate Henry and Devin Hewes both going 2 for 3 with an RBI and Clayton Smith finished 1 for 1 with an RBI.

PORTVILLE PREVAILS

PORTVILLE — Behind a combined two-hitter from Cole Keesler and Brady German, Portville (6-5, 6-4) edged Ellicottville (6-8, 3-7) 4-3 in a Division 3 game.

Keesler worked the first 4.2 innings and gave up three runs, struck out 11 and walked seven. German finished up by not allowing a hit and fanning one.

Leading the Panthers’ offense was Keesler with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Edmund also had a double.

For the Eagles, AJ Myers and Merek Peters had a single apiece.
