Southwestern Softball Gets Past Salamanca

Southwestern’s Hayden Dawson stepped up in the bottom of the sixth inning of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 softball against Salamanca with two outs and a runner in scoring position.

Dawson made the most of her opportunity, driving a single to right field that brought home Arianna Silakowski to give the Trojans a 4-3 lead and eventual win.

Southwestern (5-5, 5-4) received a strong performance in the circle from Madi Burnett going all seven innings with just four hits and two walks while striking out nine for the victory. Siri DuBois had two singles for the Trojans.

Salamanca (2-9, 0-7) also had a strong pitching outing from Charli Ross as she gave up just five hits with four walks and four strikeouts over six innings. Makenzie Crouse led the Salamanca offense with a pair of singles.

PINE VALLEY, RANDOLPH SPLIT

RANDOLPH — The Randolph softball team entertained Pine Valley to a doubleheader and split games with the home team for each contest securing the decision.

In the first game, Randolph secured a 5-0 Division 3 victory thanks to a strong performance by Grace Arnold-Hill in the circle giving up just five hits and four walks while striking out five in the win.

Sadie Steward smashed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first, while Aliza Hind added two more hits in the five inning contest.

Pine Valley went with Danica Farnham for the first three innings in the circle and she gave up seven hits and five walks with a strikeout. Ashlynn Silleman pitched the final inning with two strikeouts.

The Panthers (5-7, 2-5) turned the tides in the second game and walked off for a 3-2 victory.

Silleman continued her day in the circle and gave up just one hit with a strikeout and four walks. Farnham had two hits with a double, while Elizabeth Roland drove in the game-winning run for the Panthers in the bottom of the fifth.

Randolph (7-5, 4-3) went with Ryanne Bushey in the circle and she gave up four hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Quinn Pence had the only hit for the Cardinals.

WOLVES TAKE DOWN BEARS

FREWSBURG — Janelle Burchanowski collected four hits including three doubles with 4 RBIs as Clymer/Sherman rolled past Frewsburg 15-2 in Division 2 action.

Elli Bodamer added three more hits with another two doubles and 4 RBIs for the Wolves and Taylor Pinzok had two hits. Bodamer also pitched all four innings for Clymer/Sherman (7-2, 5-2) giving up just three hits and striking out nine.

Frewsburg (0-11, 0-8) was led by Teagan Nazario with a 2-run home run in the fourth inning.
