Red & Green Earn Five 2nd-Place Finishes At Class AA Meet

WEST SENECA — Jamestown’s boys took third and the Red & Green girls took 12th at the Section VI Class AA track and field championships hosted by West Seneca West High School on Wednesday.

While Jamestown did not have any individual event champions, the Red & Green did pick up five second-place finishes.

Senior Brighton Lumia was second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.28 seconds and sophomore Braiden Kennedy was ninth (1:02.54).

Jamestown freshman Beckett Lumia was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.63 seconds. Orchard Park senior Steven Barlette won in a meet-record time of 50.43 seconds.

Red & Green senior Jarren Cotter was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.89 seconds while sophomore Angel Martinez was eighth (23.54) and sophomore Cameron Burgess was 14th (24.16). Sweet Home senior Brenton Baker won in a meet-record time of 22.68 seconds.

Jamestown junior Jorge Rivera Jr. was second in the discus at 140 feet.

Red & Green senior Emily Cardinale tied for second in the pole vault at 10 feet, 6 inches. Lucy Hockenberry tied for ninth at 7 feet.

Martinez was third in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 11.4 seconds while Cotter was sixth (11.58) and senior Ayden Samuelson was ninth (11.75).

Rivera tied for third in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Jamestown junior Wyatt Olmstead was fourth in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:10.72.

Brighton Lumia was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.68 seconds and Beckett Lumia was 12th (17.51).

Red & Green freshman Tyler Tellez tied for seventh in the pole vault at 10 feet, 9 inches and Rivera was 13th (10-9).

Cardinale was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.72 seconds. The event was won by Williamsville North sophomore Lily Bauer in a track and meet record time of 14.85 seconds.

Jamestown senior Nolah Hamilton was eighth in the girls 1,500 meters with a time of 5:20.47. Williamsville North junior Melia Kupchanko won with a meet-record time of 4:42.30.

Jamestown junior Clevon Wofford was eighth in the boys 1,600 meters with a time of 4:48.03. Olmstead was ninth (4:51.63) and freshman Thomas Kathman was 10th (4:53.6).

Jamestown senior Belle Johnson was eighth in the 800 meters (2:31.30).

Jamestown junior Finn Caswell was eighth in the 800 meters (2:05.59) and senior Andrew Marucci was 12th (2:10.67). Niagara Wheatfield senior Nicholas Morgan won in a meet-record time of 1:56.31.

Jamestown sophomore London Hamilton was ninth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:23.18. Eighth-grader Julia Stormont was 10th (11:49.14).

Jamestown sophomore Andre Graham was 10th in the shot put at 39 feet, 1.5 inches.

Samuelson was 16th in the long jump at 17 feet, 5.25 inches. Sweet Home’s Baker won with a meet and track record of 23 feet, 6.75 inches.

Jamestown’s boys 400-meter relay team of Martinez, Samuelson, Burgess and Cotter took second in 43.17 seconds. Sweet Home won with a meet-record time of 43.08 seconds.

The Red & Green boys 1,600-meter relay team of Burgess, Cotter, Beckett Lumia and Brighton Lumia was second in 3:23.85. Clarence won the event with a track and meet-record time of 3:23.47.

Jamestown’s boys 3,200-meter relay of Marucci, Wofford, Kathman and Caswell took fourth in 8:44.23. The event was won by Lancaster in a track- and meet-record time of 8:01.75.

Jamestown’s girls 3,200-meter relay of Kater Hockenberry, Nolah Hamilton, London Hamilton and Johnson took sixth in 10:38.04.

Jamestown’s girls 1,600-meter relay of Kater Hockenberry, Johnson, Myah Crossley and Nolah Hamilton was 13th in 4:42.56. Frontier won with a meet-record time of 4:04.97.

Jamestown’s girls 400-meter relay of Macy Bailey, Shamyreik Santiago, Jamie Beaver and Lucy Hockenberry was 14th in 56.73 seconds.

Clarence took the boys team crown with 107 points, 20 points better than second-place Sweet Home. Jamestown was third with 69 points.

Williamsville North won the girls title with 163 points, easily beating second-place Frontier (78) and third-place Niagara Wheatfield (67).
