FORESTVILLE — Addison Kota went 3 for 4 with a sixth-inning home run and three runs scored to spark Gowanda to a 7-3 victory over Forestville in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball Tuesday evening.

Kota earned the win in the circle with four innings of one-hit ball, striking out seven and walking just one. Gracie Eddy got the final nine outs for the Panthers (8-6, 5-4), striking out two.

Gowanda jumped ahead with a three-run first inning. Kota singled to left field on the first pitch of the game and scored on Holland Browning’s RBI double to right field. Browning was awarded third base due to obstruction and scored on Sophie Bobseine’s RBI single to right field. After CeCe John’s single and a sacrifice bunt by Lauren Kelly, Helena Wallschlaeger hit an RBI groundout to make it 3-0.

The Panthers tacked on a run in the second inning. With two outs, Kota singled to left field and Browning singled to center field ahead of Bobseine’s RBI infield single.

Gowanda made it 5-0 in the third inning. Wallschlaeger singled to center field and advanced to second on an error before Bella Maines hit an RBI double to the left-center field gap.

The Hornets (10-2, 7-2) got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Elizabeth Case was hit by a pitch and Carilene Sliwa followed with a single to center field, but moved up to second when the throw from the outfield tried to get Case at third base. A wild pitch plated Case and Jade Work hit an RBI groundout.

Kota’s home run in the sixth made it 6-2 and Browning followed with a double before Bobseine’s RBI single made it 7-2.

Bobseine finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs; Browning was 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored; and Maines had two hits, including a double, and an RBI.
