DuBois Powers Southwestern Past Dunkirk

DUNKIRK — Siri DuBois belted a two-run home run to support the six-hitter of winning pitcher Madelyn Burnett as Southwestern beat Dunkirk 9-2 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 softball game Wednesday.
The Trojans, who improved to 6-6 overall and 6-5 in the division, also received three hits and three RBIs from Alexis Beckerink, and two hits from Dubois, Katelyn Casel (double), Eliana Barone (double, RBI) and Addison Shaw.
Kassidy Donisi went 2 for 3 and recorded six strikeouts in the circle for the Marauders (2-13, 1-9).
JAMESTOWN BEATS WARRIORS
Jamestown scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on its way to a 15-3 Division 1 victory over Salamanca at Martin Road Sports Complex.
Winning pitcher Kaylee Keppel struck out four and was helped offensively by Raegan Powers, who smacked a triple. Allison MacCallum added a single, three walks and four runs and Emily Maggio contributed a pair of walks and two runs for the Red & Green (4-10, 2-8).
For the Warriors (3-11, 1-9), Jaelynne Brown and Jaeylyne Cooper both had two hits, including a double.
WESTFIELD TAKES ADVANTAGE OF ERRORS
SHERMAN — Mackenzie Schumaker tripled and scored three runs to lead Westfield to an 8-2 Division 2 win over Clymer/Sherman on Wednesday.
The teams were tied 2-2 after five innings before Westfield scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. For the game, the Wolverines (6-5, 5-3) took advantage of seven Clymer/Sherman errors, leading to seven unearned runs.
Eva Gnadzinski earned the win in the circle, tossing a five-hitter with six strikeouts and four walks.
Elli Bodamer and Kelsey Wagner each singled and drove in a run for the Wolves (8-3, 6-3). Bodamer tossed a six-hitter with nine strikeouts.
