Bauer’s RBI Double Sends Silver Creek Past Pine Valley
SILVER CREEK — Kim Bauer’s RBI double in the top of the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie and Silver Creek beat Pine Valley 5-4 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball Friday.
Bauer finished 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs; Rylee Weiskerger had two hits, including a triple; and Kyla Ziegler singled, drove in a run and scored twice for the Black Knights (9-4, 7-3).
Maddie Blair threw a complete game, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out nine and walking four in the win.
Danielle West tripled; Ashlynn Silleman went 2 for 4 with an RBI; and Paige Hohl singled and drove in two runs for the Panthers (6-9, 3-7).
Danica Farnham threw a complete game, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking seven in the loss.
GOWANDA THROWS OUT TYING RUN
GOWANDA — Gowanda threw out the potential tying run at the plate to end the game and preserve a 7-6 Division 3 victory over Randolph.
The Cardinals’ Ryanne Bushey singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and Quinn Pence was hit by a pitch with one out. After an infield pop-up, Sofia Bieniek hit a single to right field and Bushey attempted to score on the play. Gowanda’s Bella Maines came up with the ball and fired a strike to home where catcher Addison Kota applied the tag to Bushey to end the game.
Holland Browning went 4 for 4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored; Sophie Bobseine had two hits; and Kota singled, drove in a run and scored twice for the Panthers (9-6, 6-4).
Gracie Eddy tossed a complete game, allowing 10 hits, six runs (five earned) and three walks while striking out six in the win.
Aliza Hind tripled, drove in a run and scored a run; Grace Arnold-Hill was 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored; Isabella Syracuse doubled, drove in a run and scored a run; Ava Sears was 2 for 4 with a run scored; and Mallory Smallback doubled for Randolph (9-6, 6-4).
Bushey and Hind combined for five strikeouts in the circle.
GNADZINSKI ENJOYS SENIOR DAY
WESTFIELD — Eva Gnadzinski went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored as Westfield beat Cassadaga Valley 12-0 on Senior Day for the Wolverines.
Mackenzie Schumaker was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored; Sydney Hotchkiss was 2 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored; Avery Smith was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored; and Molly Burgess doubled for Westfield (8-5, 7-3).
Gnadzinski tossed a six-inning four-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks in the circle.
Hailey Myers, Faith McVey, Anna Burlingame and Mia Fanara each had a single for the Cougars (4-8, 3-7).
ERROR PLATES WINNING RUNS
CLYMER — Clymer/Sherman scored two runs of a Maple Grove/Panama error in the bottom of the fifth inning to win 3-1 in Division 2 action.
Elli Bodamer tossed a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the circle for the Wolves (9-3, 7-3).
Clymer/Sherman took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Taylor Pinzok’s RBI triple.
Maple Grove/Panama tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on Meg Ryan’s RBI single.
Ryan and Jessica Lyon combined to allow six hits while striking out three for the Red Dragons (6-7, 4-6).
Pinzok and Kelsey Wagner each had two hits for Clymer/Sherman.
JOHNSON STANDS OUT AGAIN
MAYVILLE — Cayzlee Johnson tossed a five-inning one-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Chautauqua Lake past Frewsburg 14-0 in Division 2.
Johnson also went 3 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored at the plate; Jillian Miller was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored; Makennah Ryberg tripled, drove in two runs and scored two runs; and Lucy Ulsh singled and drove in two runs for the Eagles (11-3, 9-1).
The Bears fell to 0-13 overall and 0-10 in the league.
HUSKIES TRIM SOUTHWESTERN
WEST ELLICOTT — Riley Sudbrook went 3 for 5 with three RBIs as Olean downed Southwestern 10-1 in Division 1.
Anna Bates also hit 3 for 5 with two doubles and Emma Edwards picked up the win throwing five strikeouts and giving up just five hits for Olean (10-7, 10-2).
Southwestern (6-7, 6-6) was led by Siri DuBois going 2 for 3 with a double and Arianna Silakowski dropped a sacrifice bunt that scored DuBois.
