St. Joe’s Snaps Jamestown’s 10-Game Winning Streak

BUFFALO — Jamestown saw its winning streak come to an end Friday night in the Centercourt Classic at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute.
The host Marauders shot 55% from the floor and gradually pulled away in the final three quarters to post a 78-58 victory over the Red & Green.
Nate Blenman led St. Joe’s (14-3) with 32 points as the Marauders led 36-25 at halftime and 54-41 after three quarters.
For Jamestown (12-2), which had won 10 in a row, Elijah Farmer showed the way with 26 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and three steals; and Jaydian Johnson contributed 22 points and three assists. But the Red & Green shot only 39% from the floor, including 4 of 18 from the arc, and were guilty of 14 turnovers.
BEARS RALLY PAST GOWANDA
FREWSBURG — Gowanda led 45-43 after three quarters, but Frewsburg rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Panthers 66-60 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 boys basketball Friday.
Blake Weaver scored 8 of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter for the Bears (6-8, 5-2). The senior guard also had a team-high 14 rebounds and seven steals. Kael Collver added 15 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocked shots, while Max Fisher had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Taran Laska had five assists and Trent Lewis had four assists in the win.
Trelin Warrior led the Panthers (10-6, 5-2) with 26 points and Blake Herman scored 13.

TROJANS PREVAIL IN OVERTIME
WEST ELLICOTT — Southwestern outscored Clymer 11-2 in overtime to win their nonleague game 61-52.
Carson White scored 21 of his game-high 29 points during the first half for the Pirates (7-8, 4-5 CCAA D2), who led 32-23 at the break.
The Trojans (5-9, 2-6 CCAA D1) led by seven with just over three minutes left in regulation before Clymer rallied to force overtime.
Chase Hartnett led Southwestern with 24 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Landon Hooks had 18 points; Brody Larson had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals; and Connor Young had 8 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Roman Wassink chipped in 10 points and Kameron Einink had 9 points for Clymer.

ELLICOTTVILLE — Rylan Benjamin had 19 points, eight assists and five steals, while Blake Smith had 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals as Ellicottville beat Pine Valley 67-54 in Division 4 action.
Cameron Mendell chipped in 10 points for the Eagles (8-4, 6-2), who led 43-29 at halftime.
Noah Frontuto led the Panthers (4-8, 2-5) with 19 points and Trent Ivett scored 18 points.
