Jamestown Girls Pull Away From Park School 68-27

Behind a 25-7 third quarter, the Jamestown girls basketball team pulled away from Park en route to a 68-27 nonleague victory at McElrath Gymnasium on Friday night.

Five players scored in double figures for the Red & Green, led by eighth-grader Nayani Reid, who finished with 17 points. Payton Gibbs, another eighth-grader, added 15 points; Anna Engquist had 11, and Makena Pryce and Aiyanna Stam both had 10. Pryce also collected 11 rebounds and dished out four assists.

Jamestown led 26-14 at halftime, but broke the game open with a huge third quarter, paced by 8 points from Stam and 7 from Pryce.

Briggs led Park with 13 points.

WESTFIELD BEATS MAPLE GROVE

WESTFIELD — Mackenzie Schumaker scored 11 of her game-high 16 points during a 13-6 third quarter as Westfield took control of a 37-30 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 victory over Maple Grove on Friday.

The Wolverines (8-6, 5-4) trailed 17-16 at halftime before taking a six-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

Alex Halstrom led the Red Dragons (12-3, 9-2) with 12 points.

NYWEIDE HAS BIG NIGHT

CLYMER — Ava Nyweide had 27 points and nine rebounds to lead Clymer past nonleague Forestville 44-28.

Janelle Burchanowski had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Elli Bodamer had eight rebounds and three assists for the Pirates (5-9, 3-7 CCAA D2), who led 23-4 after the first quarter.

Carilene Sliwa led the Hornets (6-5, 4-3 CCAA D4) with 20 points to go along with four steals. Elizabeth Case had 13 rebounds, while Igrid Gibson had eight rebounds and four steals.

TONAWANDA — Kyla Hayes, a St. John’s University commitment, scored 30 points to lead Cardinal O’Hara to a 60-47 nonleague victory over Frewsburg.

Elonna McGriff added 10 points for the Hawks (13-7, 6-0 MMA), who took control of a one-point game with a 21-8 third quarter.

Ava Jimerson led the Bears (12-3, 7-1 CCAA D3) with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Jadyn Trocki had 15 points, five steals, five assists and five rebounds. Abery Harvey grabbed seven rebounds and Taytum Jimerson grabbed six.
