AMHERST — Southwestern/Jamestown had a pair of medalists to finish seventh as a team at the Section VI Class A girls swimming and diving championships Friday at Sweet Home High School.

Southwestern/Jamestown finished with 147 points, while Orchard Park won with 415 points. Lockport was second (282) and Clarence was third (262).

Dunkirk/Fredonia/Forestville/Pine Valley/Cassadaga Valley finished 11th with 74 points, thanks to Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer’s first-place finish in 1-meter diving with 526.20 points. Her teammate, Leah Marsh, was third in diving with 440.25 points.

Clarissa Hren was Southwestern/Jamestown’s top finisher with a second-place showing in the 100-yard backstroke. Her time of 1:02.09 was less than 3 seconds slower than first-place Chloe Boebel or Orchard Park.

Hren also took third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.16. Clarence’s Emily Cartenuto was the winner in 2:12.66.

Southwestern/Jamestown took fifth in the 200-yard medley relay, seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
