JCC Women’s Basketball Drops Opener To Penn State Shenango 58-54
BUFFALO — The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women’s basketball team led after each of the first three quarters in their season opener but were outscored by five in the final frame to lose 58-54 to Penn State Shenango at Bryant and Stratton of Buffalo.
The Jayhawks had a trio of players reach double digits in the loss. Sophomore Myla Truitt led all scorers with 12, while Tyesha Wilson had 11, and Courtney Martin finished with 10.
JCC struggled from three-point range, making just 20% of their attempts on 7-35 shooting. The overall field goal percentage wasn’t much better, hitting at a 31.3% clip.
Despite the struggles from the field, JCC was within three with under 30 seconds to play, but PSU Shenango knocked down their free throws to seal the victory.
The loss sets Jamestown back to 0-1 on the year.
The ladies return to the court on Tuesday, November 5th, when they travel to Lakeland Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
