Mays Finishes Hat Trick With Golden Goal
SALAMANCA — Nathan Mays scored his third goal of the game in the fifth minute of overtime as Silver Creek/Forestville escaped with a 4-3 nonleague boys soccer win over Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
Alexander Karnes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute for the Black Knights (5-7-0, 0-6-0 CCAA DIII) and Mays added a goal in the 31st minute for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Mays made it 3-0 in the 49th minute before the Warwolves (1-14-0, 1-8-0 CCAA DII) scored three straight goals to tie the game. Taylor Hayes scored from Jacob Herrick in the 65th minute, Calum Farnum scored from Herrick in the 68th minute and Herrick capped the outburst with a goal from Farnum in the 68th minute.
KOOPMAN POWERS FREDONIA
MAYVILLE — Fredonia defeated Chautauqua Lake 2-1 in nonleague play.
R.J. Koopman scored in the first half for the Hillbillies (6-5-2, 4-3-1 CCAA D1) off an assist from Kadin Ritenburg.
Ritenburg scored in the second half with the assist going to Neshawn Arif.
Andrew Cowan had five saves in goal for Fredonia, which hosts Allegany-Limestone on Monday night at 7 p.m. at SUNY Fredonia.
Kameron Press scored from Nate Henry in the 74th minute for the Eagles (7-7-0, 5-3-0 CCAA DIII).
LARK SCORES TWICE
SOUTH DAYTON — Leon Lark scored twice to lead North Collins to a 4-0 shutout of Pine Valley/Gowanda in nonleague play.
The game was tied at halftime before Lark scored from Angelo Fera in the 43rd minute. Scott Armbruster added a goal from Neven Sheehy in the 53rd minute, Lark scored from Sheehy in the 57th minute and Fera scored from Abe Parnitzke in the 67th minute for the Eagles (6-7-0, 1-5-0).
The Panthers, who are 1-8-0 in Division II, fell to 1-12-0 overall.
GATORS BLANK WESTFIELD/BROCTON
ALLEGANY — Cooper Wilczewski scored twice in Allegany-Limestone’s 4-0 nonleague shutout of Westfield/Brocton.
Luke Griffin had a goal and an assist, Mat Burnett had a goal, and George Brairton had an assist for the Gators (11-2-0, 7-1-0 CCAA DI).
The Wolverines, who are 5-1-1 in Division III, fell to 9-3-2 overall.
DOHERTY HAS HAT TRICK
ELLICOTTVILLE — Owen Doherty netted a hat trick and added an assist as Ellicottville blanked Olean 6-0 in nonleage play.
Tosh Klein had two goals and an assist; Rian Johnson had a goal; Christopher Edwards had two assists; and Holden Basher and Maddox Johnson each added an assist for the Eagles (7-6-2, 5-3-1 CCAA DII).
The Huskies, who are 3-6-0 in Division I, fell to 4-9-1 overall.
