Melquist Surpasses 1,000 Career Assists As Falconer Sweeps Olean In Volleyball
FALCONER — Hannah Melquist had 20 assists, five kills, five aces and nine digs as Falconer swept Olean 25-9, 25-17, 25-18 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls volleyball action Thursday.
Melquist surpassed 1,000 career assists in the victory.
Emily Zaranek had nine kills and nine digs; Augustine Krenzer had five kills, two blocks and two aces; and Mylie Zaranek had six kills and five digs for the Golden Falcons (2-0, 1-0).
Anna Bates had 15 assists, four digs and a block; Ava Moses had five kills and three blocks; AJ Easton had four kills and four blocks; and Haylie Bednarski had four kills and four digs for the Huskies (0-1, 0-1).
PANAMA
SWEEPS PIRATES
PANAMA — Kiera Loberg dominated on the service line with 15 points as Panama swept nonleague Clymer 25-19, 25-18, 25-14.
Loberg added 17 assists; Kaitlyn Horton had seven kills, four blocks, five digs and 11 service points; Emma Cooper had five kills, six digs and eight service points; and Lily Hyde had five kills and five service points for the Panthers (1-1).
Elli Bodamer had four kills, four digs and three service points; Maiya Dunnewold had two assists and four aces; and Janelle Burchanowski had eight assists, nine digs and four service points for the Pirates (0-1).
Clymer won the jayvee match.
SOUTHWESTERN ROLLS
Southwestern swept Jamestown 25-13, 25-16, 25-13 in Division 1 action.
The Trojans were led by Madi Burnett with four aces, three kills, three digs and a block; Bella Sirianni added three aces, two digs and 17 assists; Siri DuBois had five kills, an ace, three digs and a block; Payton Swartz made three aces and nine digs; and Kate Miller had two aces.
Jamestown won the jayvee match 25-14, 25-13, 25-19.
