Maple Grove Gets By Dunkirk
DUNKIRK — Maple Grove escaped Dunkirk with a 3-2 nonleague volleyball victory 27-25, 26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 15-9.
The Red Dragons needed extra time to secure its first two wins before dropping the next two sets and then had to dig deep to squeeze on the road win in the fifth and final set.
Dunkirk drops to 1-1 overall while Maple Grove starts the year with a victory.
HORTON POWERS PANAMA
SHERMAN — Kaitlyn Horton’s 19 kills led Panama past Sherman in nonleague action 3-1 by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-15 on Monday.
Kiera Loberg added 25 assists, six digs and three aces for the Panthers (2-1), while Emma Cooper had four kills, 13 digs and five aces, and McKenna Kolstee recorded seven kills, two aces and a block.
Sherman (1-1) was led by Kelsey Wagner with six kills, three assists, two blocks, three digs and two aces, Kenadi Long had eight assists, two kills, two aces and a dig, Madison Emory made five aces and 12 points and Emmersen Crawford had four kills, two digs and an ace.
EAGLES SWEEP JAMESTOWN
Karagan Fairbank had four kills, four aces, 11 digs and 11 assists as Chautauqua Lake swept nonleague Jamestown 25-14, 25-10, 25-17.
Jeanine Group had five kills, six aces and four digs, while Kinslee Motter had six kills and two aces for the Eagles.
Raegan Powers had three aces and 12 digs, while Grayson Bloomquist had 14 digs and three aces for the Red & Green.
Chautauqua Lake won the jayvee match.
