Golden Cougars Edge Maple Grove 1-0 For First Win
BEMUS POINT — The Cassadaga Valley/Falconer boys soccer team secured its first victory of the year with a narrow 1-0 defeat of Maple Grove in nonleague action on Friday.
Gabe Lundmark scored the lone goal as Kale Livengood picked up his first varsity point with the assist. Nate Bailey made five saves to secure the shutout for the Golden Cougars (1-0).
Maple Grove (0-1) will seek its first win when it hosts Dunkirk on Monday, while the Golden Cougars will entertain Fredonia.

WOLVERINES BLANK ‘BILLIES
WESTFIELD — Carson Swanson and the Westfield/Brocton Wolverines got the year started off right with a 3-0 nonleague victory over Fredonia on Thursday night.
Swanson netted a pair of goals and set up a goal by Danny Braylon, while Nolan Anderson made five saves in the shutout.

BLACK KNIGHTS CRUISE
SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek/Forestville girls soccer team stormed to another victory, defeating Cattaraugus-Little Valley 5-1 in nonleague action on Friday.
Abby Cook paced the Black Knights (2-0) with two goals and three assists; Marissa Grisanti added another two goals and an assist; and Carilene Sliwa scored an unassisted tally. Kimberly Bauer made seven saves en route to the victory.
The Timberwolves (0-1) received a goal from Candice Brown assisted by Talon Bramer, while Kierra Knobloch made 10 saves in net.
BEARS BLANK JHS
FREWSBURG — Ava Jimerson continued her hot start with two goals and two assists in Frewsburg’s 4-0 win over Jamestown in nonleague action.
Taytum Jimerson and Brionna Dumaine scored once each for the Bears (2-0), while both Elysse Gruber and Kealy Caflisch had an assist. Gruber also made six saves in the shutout victory.
Jamestown (0-2) received five saves from Maya El Mohandis in net and Myah Crossley played the other half with four saves.
