Freeman, Hind Send Randolph Past Trojans
RANDOLPH — Down two starters, Randolph found a way Monday afternoon.
Cooper Freeman scored from 25 yards out off an assist from Cody Slade in the 67th minute to break a 1-1 tie as the Cardinals beat nonleague Southwestern 2-1 in boys soccer at Weeden Park.
The Trojans opened the scoring in the 41st minute on Seth Vaughn’s second goal of the season from Connor Young.
Randolph tied the game in the 45th minute when Slade sent Drew Hind in alone on a breakaway and the senior buried his second goal of the season.
Delsin Tallchief made the lead hold up with four saves in net for the Cardinals (3-0-0), while Cooper Charles made three saves for Southwestern (1-1-0).
RODRIGUEZ NETS WINNER
ELLERY — Naisaih Rodriguez’s goal in the 59th minute stood up as the winner for Dunkirk in a 1-0 shutout of nonleague Maple Grove.
Greg Orcutt made 14 saves in net for the Marauders (1-1-1).
The Red Dragons fell to 0-2-0, both 1-0 defeats.
RED & GREEN FALL
HAMBURG — Frontier led 4-1 at halftime on its way to a 4-2 nonleague win over Jamestown.
Daniel Carriero had a pair of goals; Ben Gombos had a goal and an assist; and Brady Bozard had two assists for the Falconer. Anthony Chieffo added a goal and Brady Tomaka had an assist.
Hubert Mulenda scored from Beckett Lumia in the 12th minute, and Lumia scored unassisted in the 45th minute for the Red & Green. Robbie Williams and Ben Brown combined for 12 saves in net in defeat.
On Saturday, Jamestown beat Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley 6-0.
Tavion Goodlow and Lincoln Carpenter each had a pair of goals for the Red & Green. Lumia and Mulenda each added a goal. Lumia, Mulenda, Carpenter, Benjamin Deford and Cameron Burgess each had an assist.
Williams made two saves in the clean sheet for Jamestown (1-1-0).
