CHAUTAUQUA — Strong performances from Mike VandeVelde and Addie Rosario helped Larry’s Cantina inch past Mayville Legion for first place Wednesday’s Bill Sprague League at Chautauqua Golf Club.

Overpowering the front nine was Craig Martin with 35 followed by Todd Martin and Mark Powers with 38s. On the back nine, Scott Thayer dominated with a 41 followed by Jim Mayer and Ken Clute, both with 45s.

Closest-to-the-pin awards went to Jeff Dearing on No. 8 and Kyle Mayer on No. 15.

On July 31, the Mayville Legion Team remained at the top. Right on their heels was Larry’s Cantina followed by Triple B.

Jeff Dearing led the field with a 37, followed by Mark Powers (39) and Victor Matos (40). Top scores on the back nine were Ken Clute with 40, Phil Klinginsmith (41) and Gabe

Morrell (43). The low net score of 29 was shared by Tom Volpe and Jeff Dearing. Closest-to-the-pin winners were Scott Thayer and Mark Powers.

MAGNOLIA — Playing from the men’s tees, Mary Gibb shot a gross 44, while Cheryl Johnson and Helen Adams had net 33s to lead Class A in the Wednesday Morning Women’s League at Willow Run Golf Course.

In Class B, Roxie Maytum fired the low gross with a 51 and Anne Vanic had the low net with a 34.

In Class C, Rosemarie Wilder led the gross scores and Karen Schuver led the net scores.

Marsha Gastol, Linda Smith and Doris Large all hit 15 putts.

WESTFIELD — The Legion Post 434 Wednesday Night Men’s League at Pinehurst Golf Club in Westfield held a Saturday doubleheader to make up for recent rainouts.

On the front nine, Ryan Lehman, Denny DeYoung and Kalen Miller led the way with 38s, while Tyler Wright and Gary Arnold had 39s. Bob Remington, Jon Coe, Jeff Thomas, Terry Presto and Josh Warner all fired 40s.

Dave Daniels and Wright each made an eagle. Thomas and Warner each made two birdies.

Remington, Mike Manzella, Wright and Thomas all shot their lowest rounds of the season.

On the back nine, Brandon Johnston led the way with a 35, followed by Tom Brown (37), Lehman (38), Steve Trippy (38) and Arnold (39).

Brown and Arnold each made an eagle. Johnston made three birdies, while Lehman, Trippy and Doug Mason each made two.

Johnston, Manzella, Trippy, Mason and Denny Titus all shot their lowest rounds of the season.

MAGNOLIA — Janice Brown and Patty Kulju each shot a 39 to lead the Parteers Golf League at Willow Run Golf Course on Wednesday.

Kulju made a birdie at No. 6.
