Tarp Skunks Drop Pair, Open Playoffs Today At Batavia

Jamestown closed out its Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League regular season with a 3-1 loss to Elmira on Sunday.

Elmira tacked on a run in the third inning and two more in the fifth against Ryan Hill (0-1), who scattered seven hits.

Connor Kiefer had a pair of hits for the Tarp Skunks. The Pioneers’ Brandon Doubek had three hits and Matthew Leachy added two. Cooper Smith drove in a pair of runs.

On Saturday, the Muckdogs pounded out 13 hits, including three by TJ Morris, to post an 11-4 win over Jamestown before 2,143 fans at Dwyer Stadium.

Jacob Veczko (three RBIs) and Caleb Walker added two hits apiece in support of four pitchers, including winner Eric Woodley (1-0).

Leo Doyle (0-1), one of five Tarp Skunks pitchers, took the loss.

Jamestown led 3-2 after 2 ½ innings, but the Muckdogs tallied two runs in the third, four in the seventh and three in the eight to win going away.
