Westfield Scores In 7th, Edges Clymer/Sherman In Softball
SHERMAN — Westfield scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game and then scored its final run in the top of the seventh to beat Clymer/Sherman 3-2 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West softball Saturday.
Tanleigh Bestine had two hits, including a triple, and scored a run, while Mackenzie Schumaker also had two hits for the Wolverines (4-3, 4-1). Eva Gnadzinski doubled and drove in a run, while Keara Kincaid singled, drove in a run and scored a run.
Bestine led off the top of the seventh inning with her triple and scored on Gnadzinski’s grounder to second base. In the bottom of the inning, Gnadzinski made a diving catch and doubled off a Clymer/Sherman runner.
Olivia Maleski had two hits, including a double, drove in a run and scored a run, while Kelsey Wagner and Caylee Pinzok each had two hits for the Wolves (2-2, 2-2).
Gnadzinski tossed a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts while allowing six walks and one earned run for Westfield. Elli Bodamer threw an eight-hitter with eight strikeouts. She allowed two earned runs and did not walk a batter.
