Rowland, Burch, Herman Headline Olean Boosters/Rieds Food Barn Invitational

OLEAN — The Olean Boosters/Rieds Food Barn Track & Field Invitational was held Saturday. To suggest that the Randolph boys team felt right at home would be an understatement.

The Cardinals claimed the Small School title with 99 points, 21 more than second-place Maple Grove and they took some individual honors as well.

Talon Rowland was named the Fay Cosens Most Outstanding track athlete by virtue of his first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters. The girls winner of the Cosens Most Outstanding track athlete was Tyyetta Herman of Franklinville/Ellicottville, who tripled in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.

The Cosens Most Outstanding field athletes were Jamestown’s Noah Burch, who claimed the long jump and the 400 meters, and was a member of the winning 400-meter relay to help the Red & Green to a second-place finish with 115 points, 10 fewer than champion Niagara Wheatfield; and Kaylee Oswald of Wellsville, who earned first place in the shot and the discus.

The winners of the Bill Sprague Memorial 1,500- and 1,600-meter runs were, respectively, Sydney March of Niagara Wheatfield with a time of 5 minutes, 10 seconds; and Roan Kelly of Randolph with a time of 4:30.43.
