Gruber Has Big Day On The Mound, At The Plate To Lead Bears To Win
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Frewsburg won its third game without a loss in the South Atlantic Bank Invitational on Friday.
Aidan Gruber had a lot to do it with it.
The junior scattered three hits, struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter to lead the Bears to an 11-1 five-inning victory over Shady Spring, West Virginia at Carolina Forest High School.
Gruber also helped his own cause with two hits, including a two-run home run in an eight-run fourth inning, and drove in four runs.
Also collecting two hits were Chase Haglund (double) and Trent Lewis, while Garrett Brink collected three singles. Frewsburg had 11 hits as a team.
The Bears will be back in action at 9:30 a.m. today when they take on Tyler Consolidated, West Virginia.
JAMESTOWN FALLS
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Jamestown ended its southern trip with a 12-4 loss to Midview, Ohio.
Caleb Piazza collected two hits and scored two runs; Dom Weber added two hits and drove in two run; and Blake Smith Jr. chipped in a pair of RBIs for the Red & Green.
Jamestown (1-2) scored a run in the third inning, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. It will open its regular season on Tuesday at West Seneca West.
