Gowanda’s Herman, Ruff Combine On No-Hitter

GOWANDA — Blake Herman and Logan Ruff combined on a six-inning no-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Gowanda shut out Cattaraugus-Little Valley 10-0 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 baseball play Tuesday.

Herman threw the first five innings with 14 strikeouts and a walk before Ruff threw the final inning with a strikeout and a walk.

Herman led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run. Carter Capozzi singled and Ben VanNote walked in the frame before Madden Ley hit a two-run double.

Capozzi finished 3 for 4 and Ley was 2 for 3 for the Panthers (6-1, 5-0).

DJ Szata struck out one and walked three before Noah Ulinger struck out three and walked three for the Timberwolves (1-6, 0-5).

WALSH TOSSES GEM

FALCONER — Southwestern’s Jameson Walsh threw a five-inning two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk while also hitting a batter as the Trojans beat Falconer 12-0 in Division 1 action.

Wilson Genareo hit a three-run home run, while Peter Conley was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for Southwestern (7-1, 4-1). George Marshall and Judd Harris doubled in the victory.

Isaiah Washington doubled for the Golden Falcons (3-5, 1-4), while Gavin Curtis and Chase Bianco combined for seven strikeouts on the mound.

HAGLUND HAS BIG DAY

BEMUS POINT — Chase Haglund had two hits, including a triple, drove in a run and scored twice to lead Frewsburg to a 10-3 Division 2 victory over Maple Grove.

Mason Eckman doubled and drove in three runs, while Trent Lewis drove in two runs for the Bears (10-0, 5-0).

Haglund and Aidan Gruber combined to strike out 14 and walk three on the mound.

Drew Oste and Nate Cornell each had a pair of hits for the Red Dragons (4-3, 2-2). Cam Lombardo and Kolden McCall combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound.

HINSDALE LEADS WOLFPACK

WESTFIELD — Bryce Hinsdale had two hits and a sacrifice fly to drive in four runs as Clymer/Sherman/Panama topped Westfield 14-2 in Division 2 action.

Hinsdale also threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts while walking five on the mound in the five-inning win.

Chris Vacanti and Trent Ramm each singled for the Wolverines (0-4, 0-4).

Kaden Beckerink had two hits, including a two-run double for the Wolfpack (3-2, 3-1).

DOWNES, EBERSOLE SHINE

ELLICOTTVILLE — Daniel Downes and Derek Ebersole combined on a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks as North Collins shut out Ellicottville 3-0 in Division 3 action.

North Collins (7-0, 6-0) scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Scott Armbruster was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Matt Warsaw singled, drove in a run and scored a run, and Zander Miller doubled and drove in a run.

Hunter Smith and Sean Crowley singled for Ellicottville (2-4, 1-4). Cameron Mendell struck out five on the mound for the hosts.
