Falconer’s Rhinehart Throws No-Hitter In 13-0 Shutout
WEST ELLICOTT — Emily Rhinehart did a little bit of everything in Falconer’s 13-0 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West softball victory over Southwestern on Wednesday.
In the circle she threw a no-hitter, struck out 15 and issued one walk, while at the plate she smacked two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs.
Also collecting two hits for the Golden Falcons (3-2, 1-1) were Hannah Melquist (double) and Emily Zaranek. Mylie Zaranek chipped in a double.
For Southwestern (2-3, 1-2), Madelyn Burnett struck out seven.
GNADZINSKI SHINES FOR WESTFIELD
WESTFIELD — Eva Gnadzinski carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and Westfield score all of its runs in the fourth en route to a 7-2 Division 2 West win over Panama.
Gnadzinski finished with a three-hitter, striking out five and walking three, while also picking up two hits (double) and three RBIs at the plate.
Drew Ernewein hit a bases-clearing triple during the decisive fourth inning for the Wolverines (3-2, 3-1).
Emma Cooper doubled and drove in a run for the Panthers (1-1, 0-1). Jessica Lyon and Cooper combined to strike out three and walk six in the circle.
TUESDAY
LUCAS TOSSES ONE-HITTER
FALCONER — Jordan Lucas threw a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and three walks as Fredonia beat Falconer 3-0 in Division 1 West play Tuesday.
A 0-0 game into the fifth inning, Lucas walked to open the frame and eventually scored the first run of the game on Callie Draggett’s sacrifice fly.
The Hillbillies (2-0, 2-0) added their final two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Sophia Gullo and Naomi Muck reached on back-to-back errors to open the frame. Maddie Ambrose hit an RBI single and Muck later scored on another error.
Lucas doubled to open the game for Fredonia’s only extra-base hit.
Falconer’s lone hit was a double by Hannah Melquist.
BLAIR SHINES FOR SC
SILVER CREEK — Maddie Blair tossed four no-hit innings, struck out nine and walked two to pace Silver Creek to a 12-0 victory over Brocton in a Division 1 East game.
Makayla Kelly (RBI) collected a pair of hits, and Laneya Olsen, Briana Spinuzza and Priya Sakpal also drove in runs for the winners (4-1, 1-0).
Brocton fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.
