State Club Hockey Title On Line This Weekend At NW Arena

The AAU New York State Club Hockey championship tournament is returning to Northwest Arena this weekend.

After winning its series against City Honors/Cardinal O’Hara to advance to Super Thursday, Jamestown clinched a spot in the state tournament.

A weekend ago, with spots at states already guaranteed, Jamestown was pitted against Eden/Lake Shore/Pioneer/Springville at KeyBank Center on Super Thursday.

In the previous matchup this season Jamestown was kept off the scoreboard in a 5-0 loss and while the Raiders offense did show up at KeyBank Center, so did the ELPS offense as it defeated the Raiders 7-5 in the title game.

Jamestown is in the Mixed Division and begins action this morning at 8:15 on Rink 2 against Half Hallow Hills and the Raiders finish Friday’s action at 4 p.m. against City Honors/Cardinal O’Hara on Rink 1.

Resuming on Saturday morning 9:15 a.m. Jamestown plays Valley Stream/Sewanka/Lynnbrook University on Rink 2. With group play wrapped up on Saturday, the Mixed Division No. 1 team will play the No. 4 squad on Rink 1 at 8 a.m., while No. 2 plays No. 3 at 8:15 on Rink 2.

The Mixed Division championship game will take place between the semifinal winners on Rink 1 at 2 p.m.

Rounding out the rest of the Mixed Division are ELPS and RBM.

The Pure Division begins the weekend action this morning at 8 between Bethpage and St. Mary’s. The remaining teams in the Pure Division are OPB, Bellmore Merrick, East Aurora/Holland and Syosset.

The Pure Division semifinal games follow the Mixed Division games with No. 1 vs. No. 4 at 10 a.m. on Rink 1 and No. 2 vs. No. 3 on Rink 2 at 10:15 a.m. The final championship game of the weekend is at 4 p.m. on Rink 1.

Tickets are available at the door and must be paid for with cash. A weekend pass is $25 for an adult and $15 for a student. A Friday pass is $15 for an adult and $7 for a student. Saturday and Sunday passes are $10 for an adult and $5 for a student each day.
