LAKEWOOD — The Southwestern boys defeated the previously undefeated Warren Blue squad 6-3 to claim the high school varsity boys indoor soccer championship at the YMCA in Lakewood.

Joaquin Caparroz scored five goals to power Southwestern’s offense in the championship game, while Anthony Pratt added another.

Warren Blue received two goals from Casey Rich and Quinn Noris had one.

Caparroz scored all six of Southwestern’s goals in the 6-2 win over Jamestown to get into the championship game.

Lincoln Carpenter and Evan Maloney both scored for Jamestown in the effort.

Warren Blue rolled Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 9-3 in its semifinal game.

Both Gavin Rex and Quinn Norris scored hat tricks for Warren Blue, while Finn Ordiway, Luc Wilkins and Marc Lewis scored once each.

Ethyn Gilbert scored a hat trick for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.

GIRLS

LAKEWOOD — The Southwestern girls claimed the high school varsity girls soccer championship at the YMCA in Lakewood, N.Y., by defeating Warren Pink 8-4.

Sophia Segrue scored a hat trick, Makenna Johnson scored twice, and Mikaela Luce, Marlana Cresanti and Joslyn Brown added a goal apiece.

The Warren Pink effort was led by Lucy Bigelow scoring all four goals.

Southwestern made the finals with an 8-0 semifinal win over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.

Segrue scored four goals, Johnson scored twice and both Brown and Luce added one.

Warren Pink made the finals with a narrow 3-2 victory over Eisenhower.

Bigelow scored twice and Lilly Stanley added the other goal.

Katie Bunk scored both goals by Eisenhower.
