Southwestern Clinches D1 West Title Outright

Reece Beaver scored 20 of her 32 points after halftime as Southwestern wrapped up the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls basketball title outright by rallying to beat Salamanca 50-38.

The Warriors (16-4, 8-2) led 20-18 at halftime before a 21-10 third quarter gave the Trojans (13-6, 10-0) the lead.

Maddie McIntyre had seven rebounds, while Beaver and Lauren Cotter had four steals apiece for Southwestern.

Leilene McComber led Salamanca with a career-high 20 points.

ANDERSON, JOHNSON HAVE BIG NIGHTS

SINCLAIRVILLE — Emiley Anderson scored 26 points and grabbed five steals to lead Cassadaga Valley past Falconer 55-31 in Division 1 East girls basketball action Monday night.

Andrea Johnson added another 14 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists for the Cougars (11-8, 5-5). Hailey Anderson hauled in seven boards and five steals, Breonna Hopkins added seven boards and Payton Meder grabbed four.

Ellyson Baglia collected 11 rebounds for Falconer (5-14, 2-8) and Ashley Smith grabbed eight boards and three steals, while Augustine Krenzer had six rebounds and three steals.

FREDONIA WINS ON SENIOR NIGHT

FREDONIA — Ten Fredonia seniors went out in style with a 60-27 Division 1 West victory over Olean on Senior Night.

Ashlynn Delcamp led the Hillbillies (9-9, 4-6) with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Keiliany Diaz added 14 points, six rebounds and four steals. Ella Koopman also had 11 points and five steals for Fredonia, which led 31-10 at halftime.

Anna Bates led the Huskies (1-18, 1-9) with 11 points.

DUNKIRK — Allegany-Limestone made 12 3-pointers, including five during a 23-13 first quarter en route to a 53-31 Division 1 West victory over Dunkirk.

Serena Frederick led the Gators (11-7, 6-4) with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and Maddie Kahm had 15 points, all on 3-pointers.

Lianna Hernandez led the Marauders (5-14, 1-9) with 11 points. Ashley Collazo had 12 rebounds and Brooke Szymczak had eight rebounds in defeat.

ELLERY — Bryanna Cornell scored 14 points and Hayley Johnson added 13 as Maple Grove beat Westfield 43-35 in Division 2 West action.

Cornell and Halstrom also combined for 20 rebounds for the Red Dragons (13-5, 7-5), who led 19-11 at halftime.

Tanleigh Bestine led the Wolverines (13-7, 7-5) with 25 points.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST FOR PANAMA

MAYVILLE — Kaitlyn Horton led four players in double figures with 22 points to lead Panama to a 70-60 Division 2 West win over Chautauqua Lake.

Cassie Lyon scored 15 points, Kiera Loberg had 14 and Kylie Morgan had 12 for the Panthers (6-13, 6-6), who led 42-35 at halftime.

Elise Riedesel scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the first half for the Eagles (3-16, 2-10). Freshman Kaylee Tarr scored a career-high 20 points to go along with five steals. Riedesel had nine rebounds and Quinn Putney had eight assists in defeat.

FORESTVILLE — Sophomore Carilene Sliwa scored 30 points for the second time in five days as Forestville beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 45-23 in Division 2 East action.

The Hornets (4-14, 3-7) honored Autumn Whitcomb and Jill Grupa on Senior Night.

Sliwa, who scored 13 of Forestville’s 20 points in the second quarter, also had 12 steals and five rebounds; Elizabeth Case had eight rebounds; and Ava Emke had seven rebounds.

Bernie Butcher led the Timberwolves (1-17, 0-9) with 13 points.

Bentley led Portville (12-5, 5-4) with 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots, while Jackie Scanlon added 19 points, including five 3-pointers, to go along with four steals.

CeCe John led Gowanda (2-17, 0-10) with 15 points.
