Jacobson’s Career Night Lifts Eagles Past Westfield

MAYVILLE — Sophomore Nick Jacobson scored a career-high 31 points as Chautauqua Lake beat Westfield 60-42 in CCAA Division 2 West action on Tuesday.

Jacobson, who scored 30 points during his varsity debut last season, had 14 points during the first half Tuesday and 17 in the second half.

“In the first half, he was hitting shots,” Chautauqua Lake head coach Devin Pope said, “but in the second half he started getting to the rim and finding open guys.”

The Wolverines were playing without standout guard Carson Swanson.

Jacobson also had five steals and four rebounds, Brendan Klossner had eight rebounds and Brayden Gibbs had six rebounds for the Eagles (6-11, 4-6).

Zach Maguire led the Wolverines (16-2, 9-1) with 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Aaron Fuller had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

“Any win for a young team is a big confidence boost,” Pope said. “Any points we can get toward playoffs are huge whether we’re playing Westfield or any team.”
