Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer Rolls Despite Bump Up

WILLIAMSVILLE — Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer bumped up to Class B this season.
The Eagles still didn’t have a problem winning a Section VI championship.
Alex Bourgeois, Thandon Bensink, Jordan Joslyn, Jayden Malecki and Mason Maring all won titles as Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer finished with 235 points at Williamsville South High School on Saturday.
Pioneer was second with 168 points, followed by Iroquois (135), Lewiston-Porter (130) and Lackawanna (120.5).
Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville finished sixth with 116.5 points, led by second-place finishers Rocco Muscarella, Issiah Ruiz and Dalton Wolcott, while Dunkirk was 12th with 69 points.

Bourgeois gave the Eagles their first title at 101 pounds where he beat Muscarella 6-2. At 116 pounds, Bensink earned a 13-2 major decision over Iroquois’ Josh Pfeiffer. Joslyn, a defending state champion, easily won the 138-pound title with a 18-3 technical fall over Lackawanna’s Abdulhamid Albanna. Malecki took the 190-pound crown with an 11-0 major decision over Pioneer’s Takota Smith. Maring was named the 215-pound champion after beating Pioneer’s Luke Matheis 15-2.
Gavin Burchanowski was second at 108 pounds, Tristen Gibbs took third at 152 pounds, Evan Riedesel was fourth at 160 pounds and Walter Lukasiak took fourth at 285 pounds as Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer qualified nine wrestlers for next Saturday’s Section VI Division II state qualifier at Lake Shore High School.
Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville will send five wrestlers to Angola. In addition to Muscarella, Issiah Ruiz was pinned in the 124-pound final by Lewiston-Porter’s Caden Barrientos, Wolcott dropped an 11-2 decision to Iroquois’ Sam Donovan in the 145-pound final, Cameron Ingram finished fourth at 138 pounds and Sam Wray took fifth at 215 pounds.
Dunkirk will send two grapplers to Lake Shore. Eliel Collazo took third at 285 pounds with a 7-2 decision over Lukasiak and Conner Jakubowicz was fourth at 215 pounds with an 8-3 loss to Springville’s Preston Bond.

JAMESTOWN TAKES 4TH
Williamsville North/East had three winners and three second-place finishers to claim the Class AA title at Jamestown High School with 233 points.
Lancaster was second with 168.5 points, followed by Orchard Park (151.5) and Jamestown (146).
Tyler Zwald was the lone champion for the Red & Green, beating Niagara Falls’ Kayden Feagin 8-1 in the 131-pound final. Keith Miller took second for Jamestown after he was pinned in 48 seconds by Lancaster’s Michael Schaefer.
Nicholas Melendez and Cole Bloomquist — who earned his 100th career victory during the tournament — took third for the Red & Green. Melendez beat Frontier’s Ali Hamideh 5-2 at 116 pounds and Bloomquist earned a 5-0 decision over Lancaster’s Joey Freiberg at 152 pounds.
Zach Thompson (101 pounds), Aaden Howard (108 pounds) and Brenden Farnsworth (124 pounds) all won fifth-place matches via forfeit for Jamestown.
