ASHVILLE — The Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team made the trip to the local Boards of Cooperative Educational Services school for an event the Jayhawks student-athletes and BOCES students won’t soon forget.
“The opportunity to have my student-athletes work with the students at BOCES is something we look forward to each season,” said Jayhawks head coach Xavier Churnac. “It’s a chance for all involved to come together, learn together, and grow together. This gathering is something we’ve done for a few years now and I hope it continues for many more years to come.”
That experience included getting to demonstrate the game of basketball to nearly 60 students as well as fielding questions from the students and their teachers.
“It was a memorable opportunity for us as a basketball program to get to pass on something we love to kids who look up to our players,” added Jayhawks assistant coach Donathan Daniels. “I believe every Jayhawk enjoyed their time and was able to take something from this experience.”
The Jayhawks are back on the court Friday when they host St. John Fisher inside the Physical Education Complex.
