Curling Leagues

Week 2 of the Northwest Arena Winter Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique delivered action-packed nights throughout the week.

MONDAY 5:45 LEAGUE

Fred Pellerito carried Pepsi 1 on his shoulders to a 4-0 start. He led the attack against Curl Jam 44-40 and Rowers on Ice 34-19.

Brewster’s Bros have established themselves as a honed unit. Avidian Needham, with aid from William Loveless, dismantled Rowers on Ice 23-15 and The Cheese Curls 42-21.

Mike Wissman and Phil DeSantis anchored things down for 12-Ounce Curls. They’ve emerged unbeaten as well after fending off Shoeless Joe’s Pub 22-15 and Legion of Broom 25-21.

Nicole Holt and Curl Jam left it all on the ice to survive Pepsi 2 15-14.

Chad Waddington and Shoeless Joe’s Pub avenged their first loss by obliterating Scoreless Hacks 57-21.

Steve Cramer delivered key play for his Fruit of the Brooms. They cruised by Pepsi 2 27-15.

Curling Me Softly relied heavily on Cecil Miller III to win 33-23.

The Cheese Curls and Wade Haubert had a close call with TRCurlers 26-24.

Chris Hackett and Curling me Softly notched a 24-20 victory, also barely escaping TRCurlers.

MONDAY 6:45 LEAGUE

Sour Pickles are the lone unblemished team after two weeks on the ice. Steve Arnold harnessed that veteran skill set in their conquests of The Cold Snap 24-11 and Pickle Pushers 15-10.

Frozen Fish lurks on the trail a game behind. Casey Ferry and Nathan Walker were dialed in clutch time, with a 32-29 win and a 21-19 win.

The Cold Snap rebounded with a defensive strategy thanks to Laura Anderson, taking down Lakeshore East 18-16.

Chris Johnson and Chill Seekers had an offensive field day against LaMancuso-Arndt 43-23.

Stark Gravel turned things around after a tough start last week. Dennis and Joey Palermo combined forces to stop the avalanche of Rock Slide 27-19.

Jennifer Van Nauker and Rock Slide picked up the slack the following game. They made it out alive versus Lakeshore East 27-25.

Jan Bowman and Tree Huggers picked up victory No. 1 against Glass House Gang 19-11.

Michael Johnson rallied Glass House Gang the next time around, clinging to a 29-27 win versus Chill Seekers.

Jan Calabrese got the job done for Pickle Pushers as they toppled Snow Good at This 16-13.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 5:30 LEAGUE

Nate Ford ensured that J-1 Auto would be untouched after the second week. He delivered once again versus Drunken Sliders 42-33 and Henry James 39-29.

Liz Hinderleider and Kim Hurley catapulted Hindy’s Hurlers up the standings. The wonder women took down Stone Cold Maidens 36-30 and We Love Beer 28-19.

Jeremy Maggio uplifted Head for the Mountains against Had a Few 40-28. In the second slate, Mike Latone nailed the game winner in extra time to surpass Rolling Stones 32-29.

Matt Storms and Michelle Richau put Hackin’ up Stones on the map. Their efforts proved victorious against Knuckle Draggers 25-18 and Geriatric Curling Machine 30-21.

Drunken Sliders came out on top of a nail-biter with We’ve Got the Stones 28-27, behind Ned Baudo.

Brian Rossey turned the ship around for We’ve Got the Stones in their 43-19 trouncing of Had a Few.

Toby Disbro and The Rolling Stones were lighting up offensive fireworks against Girls with Stones, an astounding 58-30 final where they could not miss.

Bob Drake and Knuckle Draggers put away We Love Beer 40-30.

Robin Bonfiglio made her presence known for Stone Cold Maidens. They survived Girls with Stones in a 26-23 dogfight matchup.

Casey Digialarmo and Henry James also hung on by a thread versus Geriatric Curling Machine 26-25.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 6:30 LEAGUE

Nick Kahanic kept The Brush Offs perfect in a couple of low-scoring affairs. Defense was the key to get by In The House 18-13 and The Ice Men 18-15.

Mark and Ben Snow captained Curls Gone Wild past Got Stones 16-15 and Team No Name 41-28.

Len and Sue Comella helped Curling Q’s pick up gritty victories over Smokin Rocks 24-22 and Perfect Stones 17-9.

Lorie Runge and The Rolling Stones came out on top of a close shave with HALLFAW 17-15. In the second slate, Jason Crowell caught fire as they whalloped Smokin Rocks 51-30.

12 oz. Curlers got back to the .500 mark thanks to Ryan Dalaba and Justin Swanson. They were able to turn the ship around against Curling Me Softly 16-12 and Rand Machine 35-18.

George Panebianco and In The House picked up the offensive pace to take down Team No Name 28-23.

Molly Gustafson and The Ice Men did not crack under pressure versus HALLFAW 27-16.

Travis Higgs and Got Stones did not look back after a hot start against Curling me Softly 27-21.

Rand Machine and Cliff Sleasman shut out Perfect Stones in two ends to win 20-13.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 7:30 LEAGUE

12 oz. Curlers looked polished with exceptional play from Jeremy Gruber and Ryan Short. They blew the doors off UPMC 41-12 as well as Six Stones and a Stick 32-11.

Barney’s Hoof Trimming stayed neck and neck for first place. Brent and Daniele Anderson carried the workload as they toppled Cold as Ice 37-22 and Curling Queens 31-30.

The Dot’s Men are right up there with the unbeaten. Rex McCray and Steve Chambers engineered quality wins over Sub Zero 25-17 and Game of Stones 36-11.

Ice & Easy curled like a completely different team compared to opening night. Kevin Appelke and Rachel Rollman showed no mercy in their conquests of Curling Queens 34-14 and Curl Power 27-13.

Bob Ricker regrouped Cold as Ice to split the night after defeating Shawbucks 39-29.

Tim Riley aided Shawbucks nicely. They were able to squeak by The Flintstones 23-22.

Emily Lyon was red hot against Sub Zero, notching the 35-27 win for Curl Power.

Brandon Rounds and The Flintstones shut down Haggy Jr. Curling 27-11.

Allie Courtney and UPMC made the night difficult for Haggy Jr. Curling as well, 21-19 the final result.

Six Stones and a Stick watched Tammy Rea step up to the hack. They held off Game of Stones 25-18.

RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP 4:30 FRIDAY LEAGUE

2 Cups & 1 Curl took over sole possession of first place with two wins over the Seminar Group 37-30 and Lions and Bears 31-28, as Josh Watson and super-sub Levi Madden showed off their curling prowess.

Frost Bitten Twice Shy stayed close to the Curls as they captured two wins over Lions and Bears 45-34 and Curlews 39-35, as Buddy Degnan and Jodie Smith tamed the ice with their outstanding play.

Joanna Paterniti just keeps putting up impressive numbers to keep Tracy’s Dog near the top, as the Dogs defeated Bemus Sliders 42-28 and the Bemus Boulders 44-43.

Newcomer Tyler Conlan showed he belonged as was stellar in On the Rocks’ two wins over Curl Jam 45-34 and the Bemus Sliders 36-32.

Steve Tanner and Rich Miller teamed up to slide Cold Beer Here to two wins over the Button Blasters 38-16 and Sweeping Beauties 35-29.

Ba Na Ma Na took care of Curlews behind captain Nate Welker 32-22.

Ken Kaltenbach and Curl Jam were too much for Ba Na Ma Na in their second game, as the Jam bested them 33-25.

Sweeping Beauties and Beth Snow had too much firepower as they battled it out with Peter Sullivan and the Bemus Boulder to capture a 41-34 victory.

Seminar Group handled the Button Blasters 32-22, as the veteran Rex McCray was outstanding.
